Data Editor for WWE 2k18 pre-Release Discussion

@Cave Waverider and @eluphay I too suffer from long term chronic health issues. I had major surgery on my lower back 3 years ago and basically that part of my spine is being held together with a lot of metal plates, screws, rods etc. I also have a nerve root entrapment in my upper section of my back. I had a nerve root block injection in my C5/C6 section of my cervical spine a week last Thursday but unfortunately it hasn't really helped. I also suffer from a condition known as Arnold Chiaré Malformation Type 1. Basically it is where the brain drops onto the spinal cord causing a variety of not very nice symptoms.

I am on a lot of strong pain killers such as Tramadol, Gabapentin, Amytriptline, Diazpam, and Morphine just to name but a few. The side effects of those are sometimes worse than the pain itself. However, I live by 2 golden rules. Firstly I always try to keep on the move. Staying still for too long makes matters worse for a bad back. Secondly when I think about it there are people far worse off than me. Take my dad for instance he passed away 3 years ago. The same year as my surgery as it happens. That and a few other deaths in the family made it a cruel 2014 I can tell you.

But still I soldier on no matter what the pain is, no matter how I feel. I have to for my family. Yes it gets me down which is why I am on anti depressants as well. But I absolutely must keep going.

As far as the modding of this game goes I am no modder. I just use the mods that all you guys create. You all make the game such a fantastic game to play, making it even better than the original game itself. Cave you and the guys are putting a lot of hard work into the Data Editor and I absolutely commend each of you for that. The tool will be a fantastic addition to the creativeness of the game. It is a vital part of the game, and all your hard work will benefit a lot of people here including myself.

Never ever doubt yourself, and never think that your efforts are not worthwhile because they are. Your hard work on the Data Editor, along with the people that are helping you, plus all the other modders who create such fantastic mods for us the community to use, are doing a damn good job and I know I've said this in various posts but I will go on record and say it again. I want to thank you and all the other modders within this community for making the game so much better to play. All your hard work is very much appreciated by myself and no doubt everyone else here.

So to conclude I will say this, your work and everyone else's work is more than worthwhile to the community and thank you to yourself, and thank you to all the others for making me very happy to play this game. Keep your chin up bud and keep going it will be well worth it in the end.

A little update from the development front and closed beta testing of Data Editor for WWE 2k18. I've made tons of changes under the hood including some usability improvements, specifically when loading and saving files as well as with configuration options. Hopefully all these changes haven't broken anything so we can steer closer towards an open beta phase soon (although we still have to wait until CCT 2018 is ready to be tested together with the Data Editor first). Here is a shot of the current closed beta build:

i just want to import wrestlers idc about the rest hurry !!

How about a " Thank you so much for your hard work with Data Editor, take all the time you need."

Also Data Editor doesn't even do the import Pofo/Moveset part (you can already do that). It would be smart to actually do research before being a complete idiot.

I actually agree with him. Julian is right. Newness to a forum does not excuse rudeness. Patience, grasshopper. Rome wasn't built in a day you know.

There hasn't been much to report. The testing has been going smoothly, some bugs here and there that have been corrected and such. Some new quality of life features that may or may not make it to a public release version (depending on whether they work reliably) are currently being tested and things are being tweaked and polished while we wait for a testable version of Custom Character Tools 2018 to be able to properly finalize and test the CCT-dependent features. We've also released some inactive people that didn't test and give feedback as instructed from the closed beta test group (this is supposed to be a proper closed beta test, after all, not a "early access" or "preview" version which sadly many people mistake beta tests for these days due to bad marketing habits of large publishers these days) and may very well be inviting a new wave of testers once the testing of CCT-dependent features begins. Don't be surprised if it takes at least another month until we get there due to time constraints and complications out of my control.

You guys are doing an awesome job. For me personally I would rather you take as long as it needs to release a version that works properly, even if it takes a few months or so. But you know what I mean by that. Again I congratulate yourself, all those helping you, and all other modders who contribute such awesome mods which take a lot of time, hard work, and effort. All whilst trying to carry on with normal everyday life at work and home.

I commend you all. So yea as far as I go, I would rather have the benefit of a tool or tools to aid in creating the game even better to be fully functional and working properly. Something that some Devs on games in general should take note from instead of rushing a product out full of bugs and wanting more money for season passes, expansions etc.

I know I am rambling on a bit now. But what I am getting at is all of you modders, on this website and others to do with WWE2k18 and previous versions, do this with absolute no cost to ourselves as a community except for any donations that folk may give you. I have donated to two people in particular as a show of appreciation for all their hard work in creating mods to use in game.

I am sure you guys are doing an awesome job and long may it continue. Just wanted to say thanks really to you all and keep up the good work that you and the others on this particular tool are doing.

I thought I had it before Christmas, but I guess it will not be like that. I repeat, thank you for your effort

Once this comes out, it's gonna blow up like McMahon's Limo! Thanks for the time & work into this.

is there a chance to create a stand alone Pofo and moveset tool so we can get started on these so we can pump some mods out?

Yeah that's my bad, I didn't report any problems ,because i hadn't run into any of the ones already listed. When you invite the new wave i'd appreciate if you'd consider me so I could do a better job next time.

Custom Character Tools 2018 will be in beta very soon so it shouldn't be that long until both tools are available to public. Sorry for the delay, but I'm moving to another home.

Never a need to be sorry bud. You will have to remind me the stresses of moving house as we are about to do the same. We are moving from house to bungalow due to my ill health. My missus is getting rather stressed with it all lol :). At least we are getting a removal firm to come in and do practically all the packing, moving, unpacking etc. Don't know if you are doing the same?

Anyway I am sure you guys are doing a fantastic job with CCT and DE. Don't worry about a release date, it will be ready when it's ready. I am looking forward to using it this time, and see if there are any changes to when I last used it on 2k16. Big thank you to yourself, Cave, and the guys doing the testing that's all I will say. You, along with the modders, are making this game fantastic to play. Big thank you from me.

A small update on development and testing: Custom Character Tools 2018 has reached closed beta status, thus Data Editor for WWE 2k18 is now in the next (and hopefully final) closed beta stages as well. No ETA on a public, open beta release, it depends how well testing goes. It will be ready when it's ready, but hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later. :)

Thanks for the update, it sounds like you guys are working your asses off. Very kindly, and unselfishly so that we the community will benefit from this tool in the long run which will enhance our games so much more. All I can say is thank you to you all for this.

I still hope that this tool is launched before Christmas, it would be a beautiful gift.
