Is your game Crashing at Startup? Here is a Fix

When checking for gender hexes for CAW's post-update, I noticed at least the first 12 slots have had their addresses moved back by one.

For example, CAW #1's address was 14288d88b.
Now it is 14288d87b

I only have 12 CAWs made at the moment so that's as far as I could check. One can probably assume that all of 100 slots are now an address backwards.

Customary info

If you can backup your save and your install folder/ mods if you have the space.

Perhaps turn off automatic updates fur the future.

My memory tables will not be correct after patch. for xpacker ask tekken.

Anything else?

I found that just reverting to the old exe has fixed the problem, albeit I'm still running on the previous build with the slow startup time
. I posted a dropbox link with the exe in another thread.

Another user says deleting new exe and chunk_cache file + verifying files worked tho so....

The issue for me seemed to be Future String.

I've only installed future string, universal attire unlock, and an Owen's retexture. Replacing future string with the stock fixed the issue for me.

No I was wrong. Replacing doesn't work, too. Game will start fine, but now crashes during character selection if I select the "replaced" character.

Skeeno's method worked.

I just installed the patch on the Clean directory while renaming the modded one...and reverting back

But ultimately, the patch did nothing but waste our time.

Cannot confirm this: I deleted all added pac-files, the exe and chunk.cache, verified the game, redownloaded the files (new exe) and still crashes at splash screen. only thing untouched is my save game... :-(

It doesn't work for me, too. And only changed thing is a .pac file in the ch folder. If I delete that file, the game starts again.

If i understand your method right, you are still running version 1.0 (1.05), but steam does not recognize?! but this way you will still have crashes on advanced entrances...

Ok, this is a good work around, but you loose the online function?

is this thread just for modders or a general complaints/fix-around thread?

Because there is already one of the latter, maybe one like the former would be sueful to discuss if/how to get mods working back again.

@TheVisitorX, does replacing music with SI make the game crash too?

Online still works for me? And so does Advance entrance creation

No, thank god replacing music is still working. Also replacing bgeffect.pac and classic referee has no impact. Game works and starts fine.

we should work towards being able to work with the updated game.

Another user says deleting new exe and chunk_cache file + verifying files worked tho so

Does this method work?.

Not for me, as I said. I think they used an old exe from backup...
Maybe there is a conflict between new exe and save files edited via cheat enginge, as when i inserted cm punk f.e., i had to save it via changing adam rose crowd reaction - isnt this fixed in a save file?

Can't confirm either, I just replaced my exe but that's not really 'fixing' the problem

No, at least not for me, even on a clean install (with only one modded pac file in ch folder). Delete that pac file and all is working again. And restore old exe isn't really a "fix" :(.

Did Advance Entrance Creation not work pre-patch?
