  1. Hey everyone. I called Gene Okerlund's 1-900 hotline this morning, and he gave an address to a newsstand that was selling an advance copy of this month's WWF Magazine. It's a good read if you're into retro content and curious about the game... ________________________________________________________________________________________ Greetings humanoids! Glad to have you back. Not because I missed you (I didn’t), but because I get paid per article. Today must be a big day for all of you. Because today WWE 2K20 dropped like an anvil on the Xbox One, PS4, PC, and judging by the graphics...probably the 3DO and Sega Saturn too. And obviously, as you try to decide if you want to spend your $60-$120 life savings on it, the only smart thing you can do is get some insight from the Brain. As the host of Prime Time, I was gonna delegate this job to Gorilla, but he’s busy scarfing down bananas in catering. This year, WWE, 2K, and Visual Concepts got dealt a bad hand with Yukes leaving. I think it took a lot of guts for them to double down and release a game that they knew was broken without delay or warning and charge full price for it. Let’s face it, this was a poor decision. And I know about poor decisions...I once signed a contract to manage the Brooklyn Brawler. I understand that a bunch of people bought the $120 Collector’s Edition and didn’t get the promised autograph from Edge, Kurt Angle, or Rey Mysterio. Fear not EdgeHeads. If you mail the photo to 2K support, Baron Corbin will sign it and send it back to you. Or for $150 you can upgrade to the Flawless Edition, which is a well polished empty box. This year, that no-good Hulk Hogan is back in the game. Ugh. Just seeing him head down the aisle with that 80’s WWF music, and that 90’s NWO walk, and that 2000’s WWE outfit...makes me wonder if he’s starting to lose it. I’d love to say this was the year the Heenan Family finally took him out...but since they removed Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, and Lex Luger, we’re a little light on staff. I’ll bet Hogan petitioned 2K to pull Vader, Sid, Bam Bam, and the other threats out too. I don’t even know why I’m still here, except to get Flair and Andre out of the bar and into the arena. Speaking of which, who needs classic arenas when we can walk around in a swamp, a cemetery, or a run-down high school gym? I guess this year’s theme is places where you can pick up the Rosatti Sisters. There’s even a venue called Hell’s Colosseum, which I heard is also the nickname for 2K’s main office. They planned on putting in another SummerSlam, but Visual Concept’s special guest developer Mike Adamle accidentally labeled it WinterFest instead. I guess Crown Jewel counts too, since it’s still the 90’s there. On the bright side, the Women’s Evolution is finally getting its due. In fact, Bianca Belair’s hair has evolved to the point where it doesn’t need gravity. Ronda Rousey has evolved from MMA fighter to wrestler to ring rope rodeo rider. And Charlotte has evolved beyond physical matter. But you know what they say. Evolution is a mystery. If that’s not weird enough for you, here's the DLC lineup for the year: Bump in the Night, Wasteland Wanderers, Okerlund’s In-Laws, and the Empire of Who Cares? I don’t know which models are scarier, the DLC or the people in story mode. And why are people complaining about this year’s model for The Rock? I think it’s a great representation of a sedimentary rock. Now if they were trying to make the movie-star-son-of-Rocky-Johnson, I’d say they missed the mark. But hey, it’s great to see Molly Holly make it in. I hope they release her personality in 2K21. And is it just me, or does it look like the New Day arena threw up on Jeff Hardy? Now, let’s talk about the gameplay. The developers realized you ham ‘n eggers couldn’t be trusted to play the game the way it’s been for years, so they’ve made a lot of ‘simplifications’. That means they dumbed it down, dummy. They changed the controls, and it seems like you can’t access a lot of basic features when playing online, or do as much as expected with creation tools. Create-a-Championship is the most simplified. You simply select a championship that’s already in the game and BAM! It’s created. Supposedly they’re gonna patch that in later. They could save a lot of time and money if they just patch up my eyes and ears instead. My favorite feature I found is that sometimes selecting a menu item enables immediate access to the desktop by way of crashing. Seems like a humane alternative to letting the game play out. For all you humanoids whining that instead of loading up the game with Papa Shango’s nightmares - they should’ve been adding more match types, better gameplay, create-a-story, GM mode, and other long overdue improvements...I think you’re way off base. Seeing what they’ve done with all the existing modes, why would you possibly want more? Besides, 2K games can always rely on creators to pick up the slack and add to the fun! Except the creation tools are glitchy. At least on the PC 2K games can always rely on the kindness of strangers in the modding community! Except this year the developers had the half baked idea of combining all the data into big baked files. I put Jamison in charge of figuring that out. Knowing how smart he is, we should be back in business just in time for WWE 2K37. Anyways, Okerlund needs to use the typewriter so let’s get to the point. The fact is, I’ve played a lot of these games and I can safely say that this is the second greatest wrestling game of all time. What’s number one, you ask? All the rest are tied.

  2. I'll get on to helping with this in just a few. Doing some research on these .cak files. Not making much headway atm

  3. So there are a fair amount of issues to modding 2K20 right this moment. It feels like back to basics right this moment so I created a file list that I plan to add additional information from the baked files as they are found: 2K20 Files Sheet The memory addresses seem to shift for the Pofos and movesets so I might release a super basic cheat table for manual injection and extraction. It will require some recoding of things for eventual Plus integration. 2K20 Memory Sheet (Still in progress) 2K20 String Sheet (Modded Values to be Verified) - Super Pofo Extract - Super Moveset Extract

  4. Since people have been asking how they could help, here are some steps to do so (there may be better, more advanced ways to do it more efficiently, however): I've already started by deciphering a big chunk of the .pofo by comparing it to data from older games, but there is still some new data to figure out. Figuring out the rest will be the community's task.

  5. WWE 2k20 Data Breakdown and Analysis This thread has been created to post our findings on various data files relevant to modding like .pofo, .moveset, .team_info, .attire_names and more. Since I myself won't be able to work on it this year, it would be great if the community could figure out the data in a collaborative effort. It's imperative that we figure out the most important things, otherwise the development of free modding tools may not be able to proceed. I'll update all findings on the WWE 2k20 Data Analysis on the Smacktalks Community Wiki page, make sure to check it our regularly for the latest findings! If you have any additions, corrections, etc., please reply to this thread, state which file type you wish to add to and give us the decimal offset of the byte(s) in the file and what it's function is. Help in identifying the yet Unknown Bytes and values would be greatly appreciated. Click here to find some basic instructions on how you can help identify the values. Please only post your findings in this thread, keep it clean from any Comments and Discussion that do not contain findings relevant to this topic (create a thread in the Discussions forum instead). 6. So I was able to look at the memory a bit more this morning. started recoding plus to try and read these moving pofos & movesets. I can update from my end that the start of the pointer is Gamebase + an offset not a static offset. And I also seem to have to account for that game base offset as well for the moveset locations. I am still uncertain if they also have a pointer. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rll8AUIARtI6IFN1zStYNP9Qn61CIx2R/view?usp=sharing Above is a super pofo extract for those that wish to help @Cave Waverider I will also have a super moveset extract when I have a more consistent base point.

  7. Take it from me, I have been playing 2K20 all day on the PS4, and it is not good news I am afraid. I'll be kind and just say it is a step down from last years game. I am not sure whether even the modders can save this years title. They did a damn good job with last years game and that was a whole lot better in it's vanilla state than this years release. I am hoping they can do something with it. But in all honesty 2K should have waited and released this next year. Give the game a year off, get developers in that actually care about wrestling and go for a late 2020 maybe even early 2021 release and give us a game we can all be excited and proud about. This is only my opinion of course so make of it what you will Yes well back to my modded 2K19 it is for me....................for now. Take care guys and kind regards. Edit: Oh and just to add I agree with @denbigh7, if the modders pass on this years................erm release I will completely understand. Likewise I am still adding mods into 2K19 and having a lot of fun with it.

  8. No intention of getting 2K20. Only interested in the DLC, Molly and maybe a few entrance motions. I'm sticking with 2k19 and I'm glad so many of you are too. Another year on the same game might do the community good. A lot of progress was made this year and a lot of things were figured out. More time could be put into exploring and figuring out other aspects of this game rather than waste time decrypting and porting a bunch of stuff to the new one. 2k20 not being great might work out for the greater good

  9. I fully respect this! My fear about even preordering it on PC has been that they have blocked mods somehow. The past few years, a few things have been tossed in as a deterrence and with YUKES out, VC may have finally locked the game down more so. Some people say it isn't possible but it is. They can code the game to break if someone opens a CH file, changing the file size, ETC. Modding is probably the only thing that can save this game, IMO. And without your tools, that's a big hit to the community as your sound editor is really a saving grace of the past PC ports. I respect your decision not to mod this year's game but the modding community will definitely miss out on your awesome tools! I'll probably stick to my modded 2k19 and just wait in hope someone manages to reverse port some of the new wrestlers into 2k19 from 2k20. I'd love to have an updated Hogan, Molly Holly and Chyna!

  10. Unfortunately you're right! So far, there was some argument for an upgrade every year, but this year ... except for Hogan, who is finally back, there are no "must haves" in 2k20, at least for me ... Everything has gotten worse for me, even the graphics. Once again a lot of legends have been removed (and I only play with these ...). So this year I will definitely not buy the game on release, even though I'm sorry for those who use my tools. Also, I suspect that modding (at least as it currently is) - anyway sooner or later - will no longer be possible, since Yukes is now out.

  17. Interesting. I was wondering why this happened to my game! But I HATED the repetitive, boring, glitchy commentary during post match replays, so I'm sticking with my version of the move pack. I love the silence. So I'm sticking with my current file structure for that personal reason alone. The only way I'd consider moving to a newer update is if @squaredcirclefan ever backports any of the 2K20 moves. Otherwise... thanks for the unintentional help removing annoying audio!

  18. Finally got some time to check out your most recent pack of moves, I'm really enjoying those "hidden" moves that you have listed, thanks again for all the work you have put into this project, this really is one of the greatest mods for this game, in my opinion.

  19. @TheVisitorX From what I was able to see most of the XML file is still labeled correctly. There's about 20 or so that need to be named but otherwise everything from SE 19 works perfectly with the 20 file

  23. Hi, If the formats are the same with 2k19 and 18 then it’s possible. We can’t access the pac files at the moment as they are compressed in a different format this year. This will need to be sorted out first.

  24. 2k20 will be a hard pass for me. Shoot, I’m still installing mods into 2k19 and having a blast with it. I figure the shelf life of last year’s game has at least another year in it, and there’s not much appeal at all in 2k20 for me, aside from Hogan. In regards to the stellar modding community here and some of you HOF modders, I don’t blame you at all for passing on this year’s version. I’d gladly continue donating towards your hard work on 2k19 than to give 2k my money for a poorly repackaged game.

  25. Well, either way tonight I'm clearing space on my hard drive. And tomorrow I'll start to find out if I bought a new game or spent $90 for the right to back-port Molly Holly 😨. The only reason that I've been holding out hope that 2K20 would be modding-viable is because I have a really fun idea for a big mod project utilizing the DLC. For that reason I haven't written off the game entirely yet. But staying with 2K19 is seeming more and more likely. Especially if people are willing to keep investing in figuring out how to do more with the game.

  26. I'm not. Sticking with 2K19 for another year. Not really big on the changes made this year. They removed plenty legends that I love, the presentation is unappealing, and they have way too many goofy ass gimmicks. On top of that the gameplay looks like a step down. 2K19 has by far the best Universe mode I've had since 2K14's and the CAW selection is so great that I can easily get another year with no problem.

  27. I will not buy it, for a legends fan is a shit game, will port new hogan into wwe2k19 and nothing more from that shit. wwe2k19 with the top Quality moders is better than wwe2k20 yukes

  28. If you are not going to do a sound editor this year, then I'm not buying the game. I'm super stoked that Hogan, is back but his animation to "I'm a real American" theme song as "Hollywood Hogan" is rediculous! I understand the rights to "Voodoo Child" is 5 million bucks, but they could've at least used the dubbed over version they use on the WWE network for him. Plus I'm not even sure the nWo Hogan, will be a DLC.

  29. I have no plans to buy the game this year.... at all. Only thing that could change my mind is if after deep discounted, I see that there are a lot more CH slots available than on 19. But even so, is still a very small chance. I don't like at all the whole nonsense on 2K20. Monsters? Zombies? Arcade Mortal Kombat look alike? None of this things belong in a Wrestling Simulation game. True, 19 had Big Heads, zombies and some other nonsense that I never touched, but the game itself was/is solid enough to keep me playing for years if nothing actually good comes in to "take its place".

  30. I will also wait to see if it's moddable and if previous game mods can be imported to this year before buying. A lot of hard work from modders and superstars left out that I need to add to make my roster more accurate. The legends thing doesn't bother me one bit, i couldn't care less and have never used one ever. I want to play WWE 2K20 not WWE 1987

  31. Yup, Im with matt, looks like a pile of shit and for us legends fan theres absolutely nothing to warrant a purchase.

  32. Im not. Im not modding it either. Im staying in 19 at least for a few more months. I see no reason to wipe out everything us modders accomplished just to go with the current year. To me it looks terrible and if yukes isnt in it and they recoded it, it may be a whole new modding scheme. Also the controls are changed up as well.

  35. Honestly! 2K is being very disrespectful. I'm surprised they're not on the Disco list. The timing would be perfect too. Just this week the WWE Network released the rare Festival de Lucha pilot - in which the main event features the two true legends of lucha libre: Konnan vs Disco Inferno. They could've had a Festival de Lucha DLC pack with those guys and maybe a few Villanos. It's basically a license to print money.

  36. Hi, You will need to create the tag team in Universe mode. If you have a ported entrance or victory animation for your team, you will need to add it to the animations list using the CAE ITEM ADDER tool so the animations can be selected in the create entrance and victory menu.
