X-Packer 2016 / X-Rey Official Thread

This relates to the catalog files which have nothing to do with the slots in the save file. The pc version also does not use catalog files at all.

Thats rather unfortunate :(

Hey Tekken I have a question for you, have you gone into the files of the showcase modes/30yofwm/attitude era to have any form of knowledge of how they work? I want to see if I can edit those files so that I can make attires more accurate(like reassigning pachs to match added attires, tweaking values of superstar threads used in 13 & 14 etc). Or even see if we can take the animations from the cutscenes and replace cutscenes in story editor with them & vice versa(or even universe mode cutscenes). I tried looking at the files using a hexeditor but that didnt get me anywhere & honestly my technical knowledge doesnt match my imagination as to what could be possible in modding these games, you're more grounded & knowledgeable in that dept. So I was wondering what insight you had on the modes and also ask you if these roadblocks in 2k16 has you stalled creatively would you look into these modes?

If that mode can be cracked it could bust open a whole new dimension to modding in these games. Especially with the Legends game around the corner.

I haven't looked into those modes at all. Took a look at animations earlier in the year and the animation format changed between games, so that turned out to be a dead end. With regards to the attires in the showcase modes, these should be regular alt attires in the pach files.

I haven't spent much more time on 2k16 due to all the limitations that have been placed on modding. I will resume working again on the 2k16 when the pc version is released and I've hit a dead end with the editing of the xex files.

I was more talking in regards to 13-2k15. & I'll give you a few examples, in wwe 13 pretty much everybody uses superstar threads instead of alternate attires in attitude era mode, would it be possible to switch up new pachs that were modded in over those threads attires in the system files for attitude era. Or in 2k14 punk uses superstar heads for his wm29 match, same situation can we add that mod pach in (even if it could be hex edited in)

@bravebird31 , sent you a pm.

@legrandcissarcix , sent you an email

@rj10018576 , if the files are in ordinary pac files, you can replace what ever you want with it. The superstar heads are ordinary yobj files which can be edited and replaced. Use the compress and inject function to replace the heads. With regards to superstar threads, these are contained in the moveset files. I'm not sure if the mods you are referring to, use the same method of referencing the threads, but the moveset files are where you should start looking. In my experience though, every attire used in the story mods have a seperate pach file in the main wrestler pac which can be edited.

@tekken57

So for instance in WWE 13 theres the Summerslam 98 Ladder Match between HHH & The Rock. Both of their attires are dead wrong Here's a link to a video reference. Now if I wanna take SuperLuigi's Mod of Triple H in his Summerslam attire & replace his first attire(00035802) in his ch pac then all other times that model is used for Triple H in the attitude era mode will be in that Summerslam 98 attire (which doesn't work). So what I'm asking is if I add Superluigis edit to the 358 pac file as 00035812 is there anywhere in the attitude era files(or 30 years of Wm/showcase) that I can make it that for that match they load up the 00035812 pach instead of 00035802 pach.

& then also, in wwe 13(&2k14) some matches just use ingame preset superstar threads for alternate attires Video reference . I wanted to know if in the attitude era mode(or 30 years of wm/showcase etc) files can we go in & edit the values of the superstar threads(or even add them in for certain matches).

@rj10018576 , getting the game to load different things based on the pach numbers is contained in the xex file. Modifying the xex is out of my realm of understanding. It would take hours of work to find the function and even finding those functions will be almost impossible in assembler language. Same goes for the superstar threads used in this mode, the threads could be generated on the fly with values specified at run time.

& the xex file is the 360 equivalent of the eboot file from the ps3?

yes, undertakerwlf started to reverse-engineer the ps3 eboot file, but idk if he found something beside the no .arc trick.

Lol @Kim666 You already know where my mind was going in this.

@tekken57 if that function is in the xex/eboot file then what actually is contained in the season pacs? Are they just for the menu files of showcase?

The xex controls how the game works, all the other files contain the game resources i.e. textures, sounds, models, etc.

If you are really keen into modding this mode, extract the pacs and see whats inside. Also look into use IDA to dissemble to xex, it's very complicated but it would be cool to see someone else looking into it.

I posted this in the help section already. Basically, open the pac file in a hex editor and look for the emd entries. Then look at the size and offset values listed after each pach name e.g 10102 - size - offset value.

Then search for the same size and offset values in the arc. Inject your new pach into the pach and repeat the process to find the new size and offset values. Edit your arc to reflect these new values.

Are there any tools that would enable one to use x-packer on the mac? I tried sending a pm about donation and feature but I believe that's no longer possible.

I am thinking of buying X-Packer 2016, but before I do, does it support extracting 2K16 EVZ files from entrances? With X-Packer 10, I can only extract the EVP from a 2K16 entrance. When I change the header to EPK8, I get garbled entries.
