As you see there are some superstars who seem to have double themes, like Undertaker and DX. Last year there were only 3 different version of entrance theme that belong to one superstar: Heel, Face and Normal version. This year some have like 5 version of entrance themes like 2 x entrance theme (Normal), entrance theme (Heel) and entrance theme (Face). Sometimes a superstar dooesn't have a face/dirty version of his entrance theme. Indeed very confusing. Copy the MUSIC.YAF archive from the DVD to your harddisk 2.) Remove the "Write Protection" flag from the file (via rightclick->properties) 3.) Start the tool and load the YAF archive via the filemenu 4.) When the file has been analyzed click the "Load Replacements" button and select the files you want to exchange. - The files must have the same filename as the original file. - The files you selected will be displayed in the window. - If the color is blue everything is ok, if the color is red the file is too large or it has the wrong audiotype. 5.) Click the "Replace Files" button and all "blue" files will be replaced inside the YAF archive 6.) Use Genies Xpert tool to rebuild the ISO as you've done in SVR2007 I haven't had time to create an ISO image to test the modifications, but the modified MUSIC.YAF files looked good. I also haven't tested if ADX v3 files work in SVR2008. But at least you have something to test now When you test your ISO's best use a DVD+RW with booktype changed to DVD-ROM. This way you don't have to sacrifice your discs to test the mod ^^. Please leave some comments if you have success with the tool. All movies from the game can be found in the obiovus place the folder called MOVIES on the games disc. The next step is simple you just extract the files to the loctaion of your choice. Virtualdub is very simple to use just open which ever file you choose that you extracted in virtualdub. This will enable you to play the movie file you have opended and also save it as a AVI file. Grand Apache Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Yeah, noticed the conversion of the audio files. The crowd files which are still in the old format have a lot of "Eddie" chants, so it's looks like he was at least on the drawing board for the main console rosters this year. Quote
freezer250 Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 (edited) I have had a look at the game and THQ have changed the music format from AFS to YAF so AFS explorer no longer work's for music, I am looking in to the YAF format to see if it can be edited Also GGS finds unknown texture formats in the CAB but again cant extract them A good thing in this game is the ability to edit move names using a hex editor they are in the misc.pac file, their are more text in their also taunts ex; YAF instead of AFS - that really sucks :> Searched for more information about YAF files on the internet but couldn't find anything. It seems nobody knows about this file-extension. Seems like a new invention from the game developers. What really amazes me is that they left some AFS files in. Now there's a mixture of AFS and stupid YAF files in the SOUND-folder. Good job THQ! Moreover I played a few hours and I already hate the new 24/7 mode, not to mention JBLs voiceovers. Come on, is this supposed to be a joke?! Oh wait these aren't new recordings only the old voicefiles from Tazz which were modified with some good old music editing software.... to make it sound like JBL's voice. Sounds more like the voice of a retard to me.. Ahh well enough of the rant. Sorry for being offtopic^^ At least the sfd files format survived and we might change some vids again. Nergal Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Hi all, to get things started I wrote a small unpacker for the .yaf archives. I uploaded the tool to: http://rapidshare.com/files/71980439/Yaf_Extractor.rar.html It's a first pre release version and eventually has some bugs, but it does the job. It's a win32 binary and compiled under win2k. Please leave some comments how it performs under XP/VISTA or 64 bit machines. In addition I added the in_cube plugin for winamp to the archive. Just copy the in_cube DLL into your winamp plugin folder to enable playback of ADX v4 in winamp. HOW TO USE THE TOOL: 1.) Start the yaf_extractor.exe and select a .yaf file from the filemenu. 2.) Click the button "Extract All", select a target directory and that's it :-). Cheers, ~Nergal Quote

ReverseTombstone Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Ah awesome Nergal, did you have to work out the format yourself? Or is it a known format? Quote
freezer250 Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 Fantastic work, Negral! :eek Tested it right on the big Music.YAF file on my SvR08 disc and the extraction with your tool worked like a charm Using WinXP SP2 (32bit) with last updates from microsoft, all Netframeworks + newest direct x version. I just used Xmplay instead of Winamp cause I prefer portable programs^^(you have to enter "NoReg=1" (without the quotes) in the ini file found in the Xmplay folder.) Anyway the plugin you gave us , works also with Xmplay: Great work! Oh by the way, you think there's a way to extract the Yaf files, replace adx files with our own songs like we did in previous games and convert them back to a new YAF again? That would be sweet! Nergal Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 Ah awesome Nergal, did you have to work out the format yourself? Or is it a known format? To be honest, I don't know anything about the .yaf file format. I opened the file with a HEX editor and searched for anything that looked like the header of an audio file. After a while I found a copywrite string for CRI Middleware which gave me a hint that they still use the ADX encoding for the files inside. The only difference is that the ADX files now are version 4 while they were version 3 in SVR2007. Oh by the way, you think there's a way to extract the Yaf files, replace adx files with our own songs like we did in previous games and convert them back to a new YAF again? That would be sweet! That's exactly what I'm looking for. Replacing the files inside is no problem, but I still don't know anything of the .yaf file format. If it stores some kind of a checksum for each file inside things can get a bit more complicated. First I'm going to test if it works when I replace the files 1:1. Maybe the easy approach already works . Besides that, the adxencd tool generates only ADX version3 files. So if we want to use our own .wav files I probably have to convert them to ADX version 4. Version 4 and version 3 are very similar though. That's it for now, I'll keep you updated . Cheers, ~Ziu P.S.: Btw, it would be cool if someone could make a simple list (a .txt file for example) for all the tracks inside the MUSIC.yaf file. I could integrate such a list in the tool so that I can assign the trackname to every ADX file. This would make editing and listening much more comfortable . Quote

Can take some time though I will post the list here as soon as I'm finished. BTW, anyone knows where I might find the text info about the background songs from SvR08? I'm talking about the little textbox that is displayed everytime a song is played in SvR08 menu. It disappears after a few seconds and shows the name of the band, album and the title of the current song. Just thought it would be cool to change this text as well... Nergal Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 A small update: I generated a MUSIC.YAF file where I exchanged some tracks. It has the same size as the original. Now I have the problem, that I need to exchange the original MUSIC.YAF file from the iso (which I created it with DVD Decryptor) with the file I generated. I tried to use MagicISO to exchange the files but this changed the # of sectors in the image. The resulting DVD isn't booting. Which method have you used to exchange the files in SVR2007? ~Nergal @D3stroy3r Quote

Nergal Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Good news , I used Gnie's Expert to rebuild the ISO and the resulting DVD was working. The tracks I exchanged played without any problems^^. I'll make another test with a ADX v3 file to see if the conversion really is necessary. After that I'm going to extend the GUI of my tool with an option to exchange files inside the YAF archive. I think I can make a release for you in 1-2 days. Cheers, ~Nergal Quote
