Sound Editor 2022

Notice: Data for 2K22 hasn't been collected yet. If you want, you can send me your custom_data.xml file and I will merge your additions with the next update.

This is a first test version and may contains bugs!!! For now, it still uses Wwise 2017 and templates for that, because this old files are still working with 2K22. Maybe I will update it later.

ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE USING IT!!!!!

!!! Please read !!!

SE 2022 won't be compatible with WWE 2K20 and previous games - But you can still use your old wem files!

What does this tool do?

It gives you the opportunity to export, play and replace sounds in the game WWE 2K22!

What you can't do

You can NOT add new sounds and it is also not possible to rename existing.

FAQ

If I try to open Sound Editor 2022 after an update it shows me some configuration error message

Like in the past, some users have problems with the internal update tool which - in some cases - corrupts the configuration file. To fix this do the following:

Navigate to:

C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Sound_Editor_2022\Sound_Editor.exe_Url_somehash\1.0.1.2

delete the user.config file here. After this SE should start normaly but you have to make all changes in settings again.

I get an error if I try to convert files to wem -> "File 0 conversion to wem failed.  Please check your Wwise settings!"

Do not install the latest Wwise version! It does not work with the template provided by SE. Instead, use the Wwise version which is included in SE in the "dependencies" folder and set the installation location as WWise main directory in Sound Editor Settings! The WWise templates included with Sound Editor will only work with that version, they are incompatible with other versions!

What do I need to run this tool?

Sound Editor 2022 is a .NET-Application. So you will need .NET-Framework 4.8 to run this application! You will also need a 64bit Windows version up to Windows 10/11, because the executable was build with 64bit support.

In order to run the "Sound-Converter" tool or to import wav or mp3 files, you will need Audiokinetic Wwise 2017. This setup in included in SE!

You can also use a later version, but you have to create a new project template for that.

OH NO!!! Your tool is a virus!!! I've get virus alerts from XYZ!!!

This tool uses methods to read and write to memory and file streams and also needs (admin) access to the registry because it gets its path information from there. Some Anti Virus doesn't like that and their heuristic scan recognizes it as a virus! So if you'll get that alert it is simply because of that.

I can guarantee you that there is no virus. It's only a "false positive". So you will have to add this application to your exceptions. If you don't trust me, no problem. You don't have to use this tool!

What audio format do I need for themes?

You can only import *.wem files! WEM is a custom audio format / container made by Audiokinetic!

Can I import my wav or mp3 files?

Yes, but you have to convert them to *.wem. There are 2 ways to do that.

1. Use the "Sound-Converter", which still uses Wwise but via CLI (command line interface). You can find this little tool in the top left corner of Sound Editor (Tools - Sound-Converter).

2. Easiest way: Import *.wav and *.mp3 directly and SE converts them to wem before. In that case, you'll also need Wwise!

It uses FFmpeg to convert all mp3 files to wav and then Wwise-CLI to convert from wav to wem! So you will need both tools. FFmpeg is already included, so no worries.

In order to make this happen, this program needs administrator rights! It will not work without them!

I can't convert something, because Sound-Converter can't find my Wwise version

That is mostly a  path issue. This program reads the path to Wwise from the registry. In some cases, it couldn't find that path so it won't work.

You can change the path by your own. You will find that in the left top corner (Settings / Settings). If the program has found your path, it should include some text with path info. If not, please select your path manually. There is a button ("..") next to the text field for that.

Wwise path should be something like that:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Audiokinetic\Wwise 2017.1.2.6361

This path can vary. Please make sure you have the correct path to your Wwise directory!

1. If you have injected a new theme and it won't work in-game, make sure that you haven't injected something while the game is running.

2. If that does not work and your theme is still not playing, it is a rarely issue with SE and some configurations. I've had it last year, too with some users but never find a reason or fix for that. Because I couldn't reproduce this issue. I'm sorry. Maybe it's your system (Notebook?) or some software which prevents the correct injection.

I need further information for that case.

Quick question, do you know which pck contains the soundtrack?

Is it possible for those to be replaced?

I haven't had the time to test it yet, but some user here has mentioned that it's possible this year without patching, but I'm not sure.

Not yet, someone needs to fill this data manually.

I just found that they are (somehow) in alphabetical order this time, although not always accurate. I just found American Patriot and Biker in music_1

Weird. music_8 has most of the generic songs but some of the generic songs ended up in other pcks somehow.

Thank you. Year after year. Thank you.

Where's the best place to list what themes I've found under what names?

For example, 930891086 is Dude Loves theme, found in music_1.pck. 74915153 is Eddie Guerrero's theme.

For people wanting to change the menu music, I found asking alexandria under 238447303 in Music_3.

Even if I repeat myself, I would like to thank everyone again for the nice messages and all the donations. That really blew my mind! Within a few hours I already had several offers for help regarding the data and even finished xml files. Since it is difficult to answer everyone directly, I would like to do this here. I will review and merge the data and try to credit everyone who contributed in the changelogs. It's really a great community with many very helpful and friendly people!

Please wait with further data until the next update has been released. So that we have an overview of what still needs to be added.

Currently working on getting themes properly identified as well, have majority superstars done for the most part with the exception of those I've never heard before, still have most of the generics to do as well. Should have em done in the next hour or so.

There is already one up on the PWM site if you want to save some time.  May be better to build off that one.

PWM hasn't been working for me for like a week. Anyone else having problems?

Or could someone add the download link? I created hundreds of sound files for 2K19 and uploaded to PWM. Looking forward to doing the same for 22 :)

***Update - I used my old laptop to access the PWM site but the site won't open on my gaming laptop for like a week for some reason. Look forward to making some crowd pop entrance themes for 2k22!

Here's mine if that helps. It's just music, though and the music names aren't necessarily matched to what they are called in the game.

From going through the .pck it looks like the soundtrack songs are in there with the rest of the themes this year. Probably why they are available as entrance themes now.

I've noticed going through the .pck files that a lot of older themes are in there that aren't available in the menus. Like Bayley's hugger music and Godfather's theme. Wonder if there's any way to make the game read them?

Bear in mind, I haven't had a WWE game on PC since at least 2K16, so I'm a little ignorant on what's possible.
