We still played well at the end, and I suppose the only silver lining is that it's easy to get Europa League tickets - though it isn't much consolation.

Players enthusiasm is infectious, true. When you have Sturridge and Suarez up there, it definitely boosts everyone. No offence to Lambert, but his slugging around doesn't inspire anyone else to run, try as he might because his pressing is useless - that makes the whole team drop back, rather than press forward and you end up defending your own box more often than not. When Sturridge was playing he was getting more out of others like Baloteli who's a notoriously lazy bastard. Just need the right kind of players and no more lumbering trees up front. I don't think you can really blame Rodgers for that. It's the players not playing well, or not being good enough. Too many errors, not enough scorers.

Balo looked half decent when playing with the paper man, Shame he can't even train without injuring himself or we'd likely be higher up the league and quite possibly still in the champions league, but why the fuck wasn't the team motivated at the start of last night's game? Why wasn't the pressure from the last 20mins applied from the start? Rodgers is as much to blame for that lack of motivation as the players themselves I'm sure. We proved last season we can play that style. Bunch of workshy cunts who arnt being punished enough for not preforming

Sadly you can't afford to lay into players anymore in fear of a mutiny. Much easier to get rid of a manager than it is a group of players, so he's really in a no win situation until they decide they want to apply themselves properly.

Not really. Mourinho at Madrid got undermined and forced out, and you'd think he was untouchable. It happens all the time. There's maybe Fergie and Wenger who were/are immune since they've been there that long, but they're from a different time. No manager is safe in their job if the players turn on them.

I think the owners would back him if he stood up to the players! Don't get me wrong, I do like Rodgers, he didn't get any of his first choice players this summer, he always said balo was a risk etc. But he needs to grow a back bone, there's very few world class players in the squad that could get away with a mutany.

Maybe Gerrard who's too old to let that be a big concern, and sterling who i don't think has the balls to try that and is tlrunning well enough that he wouldnt need shouting at (his crosses etc are dog shit tho)... Perhaps coutinho.... Balo doesn't have a hope...lol

United showed that as long as you throw enough money at people they will come no matter where you are. Always thought we should really plump up the cash and sign some top players, especially if we were going to flog the third best player in the world.

Tends to happen when you spend too much on prospects and mediocre 'squad' players. Suarez was probably the last world class player we signed who was at a top level when he got here.
