fufu ÷ Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Podolski isn't a striker and neither is Campbell. Before seeing him in the team, no. Sanchez is about as close a direct Suarez replacement as there is, so he would have been the preferred choice. But after seeing Balo, he seems to fit in well and give something we haven't had for a while, so i'm happy with how it went in the end. Also in terms of money it's not really a contest who was the better value. Quote
DrJoeyMagnum Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Yeah what a deal 16 million and yous are paying him 80,000 grand a week, what were Milan thinking? Podolski is a striker isn't he? he certainly was for Koln and (i think) Munich Quote
fufu ÷ Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 He was a centre forward or winger for both. He always played behind the main striker. It's like calling Andre Schurrle a striker just because he played there a few times for Leverkusen or Chelsea. Majority of his career has been played on the wing or in the hole. Quote
Miz_fit Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 If he's a striker why did Arsenal buy Welbeck? They have Podolski, Campbell and Sanogo as cover for Giroud (Walcott injured/not fit right?) Rooney isn't a striker anymore. He's a centre forward, at most, same as Sanchez. Just Sanchez is more versatile. Woulda liked him at Liverpool as a Suarez replacement tbf. Would you have Sanchez over Balotelli? I'm sure he'll be played on the wing for us. You saw him in the Everton game, he wasn't great as a lone striker. I'd have Sanchez over Balotelli, but if it was Sanchez for £32m or Balotelli for £16m, then I'd take Balotelli. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 It should be expected that Sanchez will end up on the wing. Wenger even plasy Ozil on the wing (and the wrong wing at that, btw). Arsenal just have way too much central creative midfield quality. Quote
DrJoeyMagnum Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Looks like Liverpool are going for Valdes after all in October Quote
Bale Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 "Lost exactly NONE" I'd take this Arsenal squad over any team. Current Real Madrid? Meh. But we qualified? You didn't :S Quote

DrJoeyMagnum Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 but the difference between Moyes and Van Gaal is Van Gaal has experience at the top level with Barcelona, Ajax, Munich and Holland while Moyes had only Everton as his top flight job now he did an excellent job at Everton but he wasn't ready for the top job at United Quote
