Chillalex Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 Youre right, but only in one area. Typical, traditional cheats such as "unlock everything", well yeah, theyre pointless at this moment in time, I agree. But what smacktalks, and wrestling game hacking in general, has always been about, is prolonging the lifespan of the game by modifying it how we please. In this generation, its a lot harder, but the whole scene stems from SD1+2/WWF NM when the ability to hack was alot easier, and you could do all manner of crazy stuff like wrap weapons in barbed wire. THATS what we're about; getting more out of the game. Unfortunately, as ive said, its alot harder with this generation of games, which is possibly why youll only see a few codes like unlock everything etc, but those of us who do hack, thats what we try for, to lengthen the game and do what we want. For example, with DOR, i managed to hack CAW mode so I could put any move anywhere i wanted and draw my own logos for gears and stuff; to me, thats an advantage and can only lengthen the lifespan of the game. So while i see where your coming from, and I agree, I thought id shed some light on what this type of hackings about. Quote
Supa #2 Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 Fair point though man. The reasons you have said are pretty much the main reasons behind why there hasnt been too many codes released so far. The people who can actually hack the game want to play it out first before possibly ruining it. But I agree with Alex in that most of the hacking is done to give the game more playability before you dicide to use the game as a something to put your can of coke on. Quote
BigBossman Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 I think if it wasn't for this site, I probably would not have been as interested in the Smackdown games as much. As Superfly said it does increase the playability. I like modifying & creating new twists on matches. That to me is fun. I'm not so much in it for the cheating, but I do like having the ring out on almost all the time, especially in a battle royal where you normally can't exit the ring. Quote
kosstamojan 666 Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 (edited) couldna said it better my self Chillalex, first time i picked up sd2! i got really bored with it, then a friend of mine introduced me to the world of hacking my own moves, match ideas thoug are a 50/50 chance of working, they work good for no mercy, but i have yet to find one that works for sd2, the only one ive seen that works good is the barbed wire match with blood effects, i found out using the gs 3.1 device in the early days that after 30 lines of code for one single match idea, the gs craps out and it freezes the game after going thru all the codex to make sure that it works right. thats why i like the always match type codes, you can create your own ecw style match only using 3 or 4 code lines and still have fun with the game, i got a couple of them that ecw would've banned cause theyre too nasty. but then again......... :rolleyes(thinks about that last statment) Edited November 23, 2004 by kosstamojan 666 Quote
Zookyzolazia Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 Well I just wanna say that I started hacking when smackdown 2 came out on PS 1 ... That was the easiest wrestling game eva to hack! These days it's hard too hack simple codes such as Match modifyers and Rules... I have tried with the last 3 games on PS2 since shut your mouth came out... But ended up comin on here for codes. Any way, I found some codes allready for this game on me messege board in here somewhere! They are for U.K PAL version though. Back to the point. I think hackin can be an advantage if you don't have time to play the game... Say for example that your in school all day or in work and cant find the time 2 compleate the game. But for me I just wann enhance the game for better match types. Such as on the last game, I ahd first blood hellin a cell combo, also added some codes like T.L.C matches in one . so hacking can be an advantige. :don Quote
hazardman Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 I want to get unlimited money so i can make a brilliant created belt. if i earned that money in season mode i would get incredibly sick of seeing the same storylines over and over again, and probably wont find the gameplay quite as fun after all those matches. I don't see the point of clear all challenge codes this early in the game, I cleared them all myself, but some codes are acceptable. Quote
traineetoy Posted November 24, 2004 Author Posted November 24, 2004 Well guys i have to say i have been defeated, from reading your own opinons i have to agree that if its not misused then it can be a realy intresting direction in witch the game travles. I stick with my perviouse statement about cheats but when you said about making new matchs and hacking editors ect.. then that realy is a good thing. I supose it all depends on what you want to achive, however "UNLOCK ALLS, UNLIMITED MONEY" cheats are still a gray area and a personal choice but i have to thank you all for make my day a little brighter. "LOL" Cheers Guys :evil Quote
