As others have pointed out, universe is a separate save.  When you search using the pofo, the second thing that pops up is for universe, the first is for regular, the second is for universe. 

 

PS- it works for managers too! The separate saves works!

PSS- For me it was the second save, but I have no my gm save, nor my rise. SO I dk if it's always the second save. 

PSSS- Aparently managers do not save as unlocked in UNiverse, unless I did something wrong. Sorry about that.
