So my old customer PC build had a hard drive failure and it was getting old so I decided to build a brand new one. I completed the build (the GPU kicked my wallet's ass certainly) over the weekend and now I want to get back to my modding project for 2k19. Thankfully I had all my game files and mods backed up to a separate HDD so everything is safe.

My questions is how to get everything from the current HDD it's on to a brand new SSD that I want to use for gaming in general. Because of all the mods I had been using (arenas/wrestlers/royal rumble arena fix/misc) i feel like I am up to my neck with data and I just simply don't know what I need to pull over. Can someone help me get organized and let me know what I need to copy? I also want to bring over the CAWs and created arenas i had over, i assume that is through a game save directory?

try cloning the drives or something

THIS YT VIDEO HAS A CLEAR TUTORIAL ON HOW TO CLONE DRIVES.

U NEED EASEUS SOFTWARE FOR THAT

hm, ive done this in the past though with just a simple copy and paste job - never needed to clone a drive.

If you can have both PCs on the same network, you can copy files via network or just take the HDD (if it is still accessible) out of the old system, hook it up in the new system and copy things over (You may want to connect  the SATA cable up after Windows has loaded to prevent any boot failures due to the bad drive).

Was your WWE Data on the defective drive? If so, copying it may not be possible/result in corrupted data (and you'd have to recover it first, if it is still recoverable). But it depends if your game data was corrupted or not. You might want to use chkdsk first to repair any bad sectors.

By the way, cloning a defective drive may lead to other issues as well, unless the cloning software is capable to make corrections (not all do!).

If your game data is accessible, you should be able to install the game first on your new drive and once the game is fully installed, exit Steam and copy over the entire game directory. If you had Steam Cloud Saves enabled on the old computer, the save data should be updated from the cloud. If not, you'll have to copy the save game over to the new save location as well (you can still do so if that save data wasn't corrupted on the old one).

Follow the instructions in the Create Backups Wiki section to learn which stuff to back up and see step-by-step on how to restore it.

In addition, you'll want to copy any downloaded or backed up stuff that you wish to keep to your new drive as well, although outside the game directory, of course.

hey cave waverider, always appreciate your advice. the HDD i have with game files on it was a backup drive from old machine - i already have this installed in my new PC and want to move the necessary files from this drive to my SSD which is where 2k19 is installed. those screenshots above are what the folders look like - im just confused which files and folders to copy and paste over

If you keep the old, healthy HDD in the new system as additional storage, you can just leave everyhting but the save games and the game folder where it is.

Copy the game folder and the save games over to the new locations on the SSD after you have let Steam fully install the game on the new drive (if you do it beforehand, Steam may replace some modded files with original ones) and you should be good to go.

You should also move any tool directories to the new drive if you won't keep the old HDD in the computer.
