(SOLVED) Will the non Steam PC Retail version work with mods?

I've been out of the game for awhile now with PC and the last mods I messed with were 2K18 and I never got around to getting this version of 2K19 for PC since I play on PS4. My question is, I have some credit left over at Gamestop, and I see they have the retail digital version on their site. I'd rather use credit than buy it full price all up front on Steam.  I didn't see anything on searches about it, and I wanted to make sure before I pull the trigger on a purchase.

I'm not aware of any other version but the Steam version. I assume Gamestop is just selling a Steam key for the game, in which case it should be fine. Perhaps you can ask them if that's the case.

Thanks for the reply @Cave Waverider. Upon expanding the info at the site it says Steam is required, so I am good to go! Looking forward to using all these great tools and contributing all I can!
