How do I import characters from older games?

I've seen people doing it but I don't know how they did it. What did they use? And how and what are they doing for it to work?

I actually want to see if I can import Randy Orton SVR 2008 model for my PS3. My PS3 is Jailbroken just so everyone knows. So im not using a normal retail PS3 after all.
