CyberOcelot Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 Look, I love Daniel Bryan, but I don't need 17 different versions of the guy in my roster. So, I decided to try killing two birds with one stone... Download Humberto Carillo, and use Data Editor to have him overwrite Daniel Bryan '10. Gosh, there was so much I didn't think about with that one. LOL! The announcer named Daniel Bryan, the attires still said Daniel Bryan, the commentators were talking about Daniel Bryan, even the Titantron displayed Daniel Bryan despite being assigned to a different mod slot. This was just an experiment for me. I'm already restoring my backups. But, I'm curious if any of you guys had the same idea of cleaning up the roster by getting rid of duplicates like this? Is it possible/worth it? 1 Quote
BlindedByTheGrace Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 Hi, Its worth it but you first need to understand which data is linked to an entrance ID slot. Just changing the character doesn't remove the commentary data, attire names,titantron/gfx or ring announcer data from the slot. Some of these attributes are handled by different files in the game and cannot be changed by modifying the pofo or moveset file For each default character, the game assigns the following data which is handled by the sound_p30.pac file located in the pac\audio folder. 1. Ring announcer data 2. Crowd chants, voice over and crowds data 3. Pre match commentary, chatter and gameplay commentary The titantron/gfx and theme music can be changed in the moveset file or in-game. If you want to use the other Daniel Bryan slots for mod characters, The data I listed , which is in various data sections in the sound_p30.pac file, will have to be removed for that character slot. 1 Quote
CyberOcelot Posted February 2, 2021 Author Posted February 2, 2021 Thank you! That's gonna be a wall for me to break through. Ae there any tutorials/guides you know of that would help walk me through this? I'd love to learn all I can while I'm still passionate about modding my game. Also, I should note that I tried learning more about editing pac files via the modding tutorial here, but the link pointed to Pac Editor which is listed as private now and can't be downloaded. Is the tutorial outdated in this regard now? Quote

OK... So I tried digging in for a few more hours today to learn how to do this, but I made very little progress. I did find an old forum post from you that discussed call names and pac editor. I assume I need pac editor to edit the sound_p30.pac file, and was finally able to score a doiwnload from an older YouTube video of your that had it linked in the decsription (We should consider updating the modding tutorial here with it, as the current link doesn't work) Other than that, I haven't really gotten anywhere. There doesn't seem to be any written or video tutorials on how to remove an in-game character and replace him with a mod. Can you give me a nudge and tell me where to start? Quote

Hi, There is no video tutorial on how to remove a character and replace it with a mod as there are a lot of unused slots to install modded characters which is just easier in my opinion. The video tutorial on installling character mods isn’t mine by the way. Removing data from the sound_p30.pac file involves some knowledge of hex editing which you learn with time. There is a video tutorial on editing the ring announcer data in that file and a written tutorial on removing commentary data using wrestleminus in the TOOLS AND RESOURCES SECTION here on smacktalks These things take a bit of time to learn and hex editing can be daunting at first if you are just beginning to mod your game. Most modders will use the unused character slots first and as they become more experienced, will begin to look into the aspects of hex editing audio. mom not going to tell you there is an easy way around it or one all on one package on this. . This is a tutorial on editing the ring announcer data in the sound_p30.pac file This is a tutorial on removing commentary data from certain slots though it’s easier to do this with wrestleminus as shown in the tutorial I posted in the TOOLS AND RESOURCES section.
