It's certainly possible, but Shawn's singles career is pretty accurately divided by what he did or didn't wear on his hands:

1992-1994: fingerless gloves and wrist tape

1995-early 1996: hand wraps (in assorted colors)

Rest of 1996-1998: hand wraps with logos

2002-2010: plain wrist tape

There are some outliers mixed in but that's a generally accurate method.

No, this is from after his comeback. The major difference -- aside from wrist tape -- is the logo on his backside. Before retirement it generally said "Heartbreak Kid" but after comeback, there are variations with "Shawn Michaels HBK," as seen above.
