Keeping Universe Mode engaging

Does anyone have any tips on keeping Universe Mode engaging? I constantly get 1 or 2 PPV's deep and then decide to rip it all up and start again, and I have done this for years!

Any advice on how to create an enjoyable universe mode?

Hi!

I have had a couple of Universe modes go on for 4-5 (in-game) years and here's how I keep things fresh for myself:

Plan your Wrestlemania (Or equivalent) card way ahead and work backwards. If you want Cody Rhodes VS Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship at mania, then when does Cody debut? Does he win the rumble? Are Cody and KO on the same or alternate teams at SS? Have an idea for where you want your long term booking to go, then your short term booking falls into place and you can get excited about debuts, turns etc.

Don't be afraid to sim matches. I used to think that if every match didn't play out exactly how I wanted it that I was failing at universe, but that's actually the beauty of it. It's all in your head really, so for sure play the important matches, but don't feel obligated to play every match of every RAW. (Or it will take forever and be super boring!) Be careful not to sim through calendar though, in my experience that can have really disastrous consequences when Universe mode allocates some random raw or NXT show as the conclusion to a feud. Load into each show, check the matches, then SIM where appropriate. There's nothing worse than getting three months into a storyline you're really invested in booking and then finding that the blow off match happened on some random TV show you didn't know about.

Put your own CAW in there! I like to start off a CAW in NXT/NXTUK and have them slowly rise through the ranks (similar to story mode without all the annoying commentary from Cole calling me 'Buzz'. It gives you something to aim for long term.

Do the work early so you can have fun later, and for longer. Set up your shows, rosters, teams etc. how you want them, then (before starting ANY shows or putting ANY rivalries in place, make a copy of your universe mode on Day1:week1. That way, if you mess something up you can reload from the beginning and not have to start over again. Keep a backup of your fresh universe with everything set up. Takes away the pain of reconfiguring every team etc. over and over each time you restart.

Hope these help a little!
