String rename problem

Hi mates,

 

I renamed the 5592 -EMPTY STRING TO BE FILLED row in pozzum"s string file on  Diamond Dallas Page, but it not changed.
5592 -EMPTY STRING TO BE FILLED see when I sekect the wrestler.
When I use example Adam Bomb's name it works.
What is the problem?

This step worked early.

I reinstalled the game and now not work.

Have you checked to see you don't have a duplicate copy of the string file in another location?. The game might be reading that one

I have a similar issue. I installed the super string via CCT and saw there aren't some names like Austin Theory and Luchasaurus in it. I edited the string to include their names by changing existing ones. (Ayesha Raymond to Austin Theory to be specific.). But after changing the name settings in data editor and installing the pofo, the name remains Ayesha Raymond. I removed the backup files for the string from the string folder.

Hi,

If you are adding a string name by replacing a string like you said, you need to change the name in 7 places, one for each language of the game. The string_win.pac file contains strings for each language of the game and they are not shared, so you need to search for 7 occurrences of that name and change accordingly.

One important thing to note is, when editing the string, do not press the backspace key to delete the name before typing. You need to type over the name you are replacing.

If you make a mistake when typing, you need to type over , bot press backspace to delete the character.

if the number of typed characters is smaller than that which you are replacing, do not type punctuation marks to replace the remaining characters. You need to type 00's in the hex section of the editor to fill the spaces.

Diamond Dallas Page is a string name in the game. Why are you adding another one ?

It didn't work. I changed the string for all 7 languages, and the mod still has the previous name. Tried installing the pofo again, and nothing.

 

Edit: I realized that the game was reading the super string from the mod folder and not the pac folder. It's working fine. Thank you for your help!

It is DDP. I want to use his whole name than Diamond Dallas  Page.

There is Diamond Dallas Page (151C) .But you can still add another one if you want.

And i would like to use Ax than Demition Ax. Also i use the empty string to be filled.

You are better off using Wrestleminus to edit string names as you can view available names and their corresponding ID's.

I will suggest you read through the tutorial in this thread.

i watched the duplicate and found it in the mods/2K88_SuperString/pac/string/win folder.

You need to rebuild the chunk0.def file.

Do you have the 2k88 mod installed ? If you have that mod installed, the string you removed is the string you need to add the names to , not the string file in the mods/superstring folder.

If you don't have the mod installed , then you need to rebuild the chunk0.def file so the game will read data from the string file in the mods\superstring folder.

Nothing just I opened the string file and renamed the example: .5592 empty to be filled. between the two dots row to Diamond Dallas Page.

Look at the hex section on the left to where you have added Diamond Dallas Page. The 20 20 20 20 20.... should be 00 00 00 00 00 ….
