How to edit items of clothing?

Hi, I'd like to edit items of clothing used by creation suite, E.g removing the dragon from Ricky Steamboat's "dragon" boots, so they can be fully re-coloured in creation suite.

I've been scanning through the forums and looking at various PAC files but can't get a handle on it. I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction, thank you!
