Assist Mode?

So, I decided to turn it on today as a lark and I honestly can’t figure out what it’s doing... if anything.

Could anyone explain what I’m looking for?

When enabled it lets the computer decide which move to use when a button is pressed.

The idea behind it is that new players will see different moves used instead of the same move if they continue to press the same button combination (e.g. Down and Grapple).
