Shiori Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 Trying to get Eva back into my game after an update. I think maybe the only issue is I need to add her back to the superstring, as it seems updates replace the string, but when I went to add her to the string I no longer see anything in it that says "EMPTY STRING TO BE FILLED" right after "Eugene" so I don't know where I can add her name now. Using HxD. Also noticed the game won't start at all with the string. Is that outdated now? I kinda don't know a way to get her back now. It still shows her in the game as a silhouette of a wrestler and all her normal stats and moves, but her name is missing, and trying to start a match with her makes the game eternally load. Fortunately this is my only added mod. How do I get her to work again? Quote

Hi, First you need to download the updated super string file in the COMMON MODDING RESOURCES thread ,which you will find in the 2k19 forum TOOLS AND RESOURES SECTION. Place the file in the pac/ string/win folder. You then need to Download and Open Custom Character Tools, click on the CHUNK TOOLS tab and run both regenerate chunk0 and the chunk0.arc options. Restart your game. Quote

It looks like it didn't do anything, considering the backup has the same exact file size. Also the downloaded one has this problem again: The game won't start with the SuperString. Last time I had this issue I just started the game with the .exe instead of running through Steam and it worked. This time it just won't start. Shows the opening credit screen then just shuts off. Hi, If you install the superstring through CCT, the string file will be placed in the 2K19/Mods folder. Also, try deleting the chunk0.arc file from the main 2K19 folder and restart your game. The name EVA MARIE has been added to the superstring . There's no need to edit the string. Can I ask what string hex ID you use for her name. Edited March 28, 2019 by squaredcirclefan Quote

Ran the game, worked fine as usual, put the string in the pac\string folder again, game wouldn't run, so tried a hundred times and it finally allowed the game to start with the s. string, but Eva still has no name, and the game still goes into perma-load when I try to start a match with her. So, the progress is that the game will start maybe once every 30 tries with the s. string. The persistent problem is Eva is not in the game, even if she is supposedly in the string. When I look for her name in the string I see NATALIEEVA MARIE. Doesn't seem quite right... She is in the game "in essence" though. She has a silhouette with no name, all her normal stats, and still retains the Divas Championship, but can't be selected without eternal loading. Edited March 29, 2019 by Shiori More info Quote

You should not delete the chunk0.def file as the game requires the file to load. I looked into the string and realised EVA MARIE is not in the string_win.pac file. I replaced the name EL LIGERO with EVA MARIE in this string. The ID is 582E. Add this ID to the pofo for your mod. The string name NATALIEVAMARIE is a social media account name so it wouldn't work https://mega.nz/#!U6RhxS4D!inDUIpr1nOdzuMHhZysJNIwhT2u6jFK_2mQu-WFaS8g You also need to ensure the CH ID for your mod is 78102 when you open the file in a hex editor. If you have installed the superstring through CCT, you will need to place the string file I uploaded in the 2K19/Mods folder. I'm not sure if her entrance with the Robe removal is in the game. If it isn't . Here is the entrance I ported for 2k18. The entrance is the 418 one. The 365 entrance is in the game. https://mega.nz/#!0jRw0DaR!pQRa5vSJqDlZ11GxA0OjfOg3eNezXELtNed6ZyVE_Cw Quote

You say to I will need to place the string into the 2K19\Mods folder? That is rather interesting considering I made a Mods folder in 2K19 before even downloading CCT in the very first place when I first bought the game. That is where literally all my mods have always been. I put them there so I know where to point CCT and Data Editor when adding stuff. There's no way the game would load a mod from that folder... right? 🤨 There is no mod support from 2K, and I have been replacing the actual string from WWE 2K19\pac\string with the s. string, just like I did last time when the mod worked, and running through either Steam or the .exe. If this has changed, it would surely be news to me, and could possibly be confusing the out of my game if it is somehow reading stuff from that folder. And btw I got the Eva mod from here: Quote

If you installed the superstring through CCT, it will place the file in the mods folder and will override the file placed in the pac/string/win folder. You don't need to point CCT and data Editor to the mods folder. You need to point both to the 2k19 Main folder. When you rebuild the chunk0.def file, the game will automatically add the MODS folder to the list of folders to load from. You want to ensure you don't have two MODS folders in the main 2k19 directory. There are no changes, it's still the same, but you might have multiple entries of the same file and the game will only load either one. You might want to search the 2k19 folder and subfolders for multiple entries of the string.win.pac file and your mods as well. Quote

By the way I forgo to rebuild the def. Did that today. Reimported everything about her except her actual moveset (used everything in the .moveset except her actual moveset, like entrance, music, etc) simply because I did not want to have to add all those moves again. I have her moves pretty much exactly like her, including that 1-time new Finisher she did on Trish Stratus (was like a mini-RKO to a person on all-fours, so I just gave her RKO lol). The string is in the Mods\SuperString\pac\String exaclty how it was when CCT installed it, and I packed all my other mods into its own folder so CCT shouldn't even notice them. Ran the game through CCT but nothing changed. When you say to add the ID to her pofo for her name, do you mean add the ID 582E to those 6 options in Name Settings in Data Editor? Formerly was 5845. Then click OK and Install Via CCT? Or am I still doing something wrong? Quote

Remove the string_win.pac file from that folder also so it's empty. (the mods /superstring) The game will now read the string in the pac/string/win folder The location of the files in the first screenshot above should be pac/string/win. There is a string folder under pac. The win should be in the string folder. Delete the string_win_bak.pac file from this folder. Ensure the string_win.pac is the one I sent you. Cave Waverider Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 @Shiori You have of coruse multiple versions of your string file and with different names to boot. The game won't know which one to read. I suggest you remove any backups of your mods from the WWE 2k19 folder and any of it's sub-folders. When you have them inside, regenerating the chunk file will cause havoc and it won't be clear which file will be read by the game. Always keep your original game .pac files intact and install any modded .pac files inside your mods folder and it's sub-folders with the same folder structure as the one used in the game (and only files you wish to have installed - don't keep your downloaded "backups" anywhere inside the WWE 2k19 directory), then Regenerate the Chunk0.def file via CCT (you need to regenerate whenever you add anything to the mods folder outside of CCT). This will also ensure you won't need any backups original .pac files, since they won't be touched and the files in the \mods\ folder and it's sub-folders will overrride them if necessary. Also ensure to clear your Chunk0.arc file using either CCT or Data Editor's "Fix WWE 2k19 Startup Crash with Mods" button, the latter of which will give you a few more options you can try. Usually, CCT's version should be enough, though. I also recommend carefully reading the Installing Mods Wiki page as the mistakes you've made could have been avoided by doing so beforehand. Quote

K, deleted everything from the string folder in both locations, removed the entire mods folder, deleted the def and arc files, verified integrity to have the game add them back, used CCT to install its string, replaced that with the one from @squaredcirclefan, regenerated the def using CCT, altered the ID like he said, ran the game through CCT, no change. I reinported all mod files, regenerated the def again, ran, nothing. Cleared the arc, game wouldn't run, as usual (this step never has a different result) so put the old one back. I see that her moveset from the mod replaced the changes I made (unfortunately....that was a lot of work), so at least I know Data Editor is adding the mod info. I put a copy of the string into the game's string folder and took the other one out, far far away from the game folder, ran through CCT, game wouldn't start no matter how many time I tried. Rebuilt the def yet again with the string in the game's string folder, no change. This tells me 3 things: Data Editor is adding the info as it should, or the moveset would not have been replaced CCT is NOT loading the string from its mod folder, or the game would not be starting The string is not compatible with my game, apparently. Didn't wanna say it, but I am most certainly seeing proof repeatedly. If it was, the game would run with the string in the game's string (win) folder Yes this is the Steam legit version. Yes it is up to date (which may actually be the problem). Yes I Unblocked the string when I tried this (it was blocked by default). Yes all the needed files from the Eva mod have been added to the game's folders. Yes CCT and Data Editor are newest versions Yes I am running CCT and DE as Admin Yes I am running WWE 2K19 as Admin Yes I tried running all with and without Admin status just to be sure Yes Eva IS in the game, but without a name, she simply cannot be used. The game will just keep loading if I try to start a match using her. No the game will not run if I clear the arc (never did, not even last time when I had the mod working). No the game will not run when reading any string except the game-created string. Quote
Cave Waverider Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 If the wrestler is selectable, it only means the string file doesn't have the name hex values in the .pofo. However, if the game hangs on the match loading screen, there is a problem with either the .pofo, .moveset, ch*.pac file(s) or all (make sure the wrestler ID you're using is the same for all three, it is the proper one for the slot). Which WrestlerID are you using for the mod anway? Did you install your ch*.pac files via CCT? If not, try that. It could also be that the .pac files of your mod are incompatible with WWE 2k19. You could try with just the ring-file chXXX02.pac, sometimes it's just the entrance file that causes problems. Or it could just be that the .pac files aren't linked to properly in the chunk0.def (open it with notepad and search for your modded .pac files - if you can't find them, the chunk0.def file hasn't been updated properly, read on). Don't forget that for any file operations, the game (and ideally Steam) must be closed. You could try various options available with Data Editor's "Fix WWE 2k19 Startup Crash with Mods" button to either clear or remove the chunk0.arc file and see if any of them works (if you choose to clear/empty it, it should be 0 bytes in size, if you choose to delete it, it should be gone from your game folder). However, if your game is indeed, the latest Steam version without a crack and CCT as well as Data Editor are truly up to date (you might want to post your version numbers to verify) it seems that either CCT and Data Editor don't point to the game directory, your antivirus or other security software is blocking something and/or CCT/Data Editor don't have full permission to access your game folder (or grant applications like CCT/Data Editor administrative permission to do the same). Ensure both CCT and Data Editor point to the exact directory your game is installed to (the one WWE2K19_x64.exe is in) and restart the tools. If that is the case, add exceptions for Data Editor and CCT to your firewall, security software, game folder etc. so that nothing is blocked. If you have multiple drives or partitions, try reinstalling CCT and Data Editor there. If that doesn't help, try moving the game there as well (You can use Steam's option to create an additional Steam library folder on the other partition/drive, then click on WWE 2k19->Local Files->Move Install Folder. You could also try it with an Administrator account (if you have access to it) and see if that works. Another thing could be that either of your directories or your Windows user name/user folder or temporary folder(s) uses some exotic characters. If so, try using folders with only regular (and English) characters in their names. Try to avoid non-english characters and special characters. Not sure what else you could try. Which Windows version are you running anyway? Quote

However, I had Bak (backup) files in the game folder, and no matter where I put them, the game would hunt down those string files and confuse them with the ones in the actual correct direct directory. @squaredcirclefan just teamed up on my comp and spent like all morning helping solve my problem. The mod is now working, and has much more going on than it did when I first installed it. It is now better than ever. Even have the announcer saying her name and she disrobes during her entrance like in RL. I would like to take this time to give a huge shout-out to @squaredcirclefan for going so far out of his way to help me fix and even improve this Eva Marie mod. That was pretty awesome of him. Also, I would like to apologize for dragging this out in so many posts. I did not think it possible for the game to look throughout the entire game directory searching for anything that said "string". However a couple steps were still needed.
