Joshi or not is irrelevant, there's all female promotions in the US now.. so... that would qualify as a quote on quote "Indie" promotion, wouldn't it?

That's not indie.

Also - why are you so concentrated on women's wrestling.  The argument is that it's not indie. 

Asuka is Kana's name while she is wrestling in the US - not the other way around.  
Additionally, Kana didn't wrestle the Japanese indie circuit, exclusively.  I would hardly say that Kana was an "indie star" by the time anyone in the states heard about her.
The Joshi promotions she wrestled in, notably, aren't indie.
