Gender flipped CAWs a mess again this year?

Flipping a female to male last year ruined the way they looked. Is it back to working correctly or does it still create a mess?

AFAIK It was never working without issues and it's been that way since female CAWs were introduced in the current generation games (although in earlier games the isses were very minor in comparison to later ones). It has to do with the base model for male and female CAWs being different, so it's unlikely that this has changed. Note that I have not tried it, however, so if it was fixed it would be great, but I doubt they'd put resources into intentionally "fixing" something that doesn't affect the game the way it's meant to be played.

Nah, they were totally fine in 2K16 and I'm pretty sure 17, though I only 17 for 2 hours. I guess there was the minor issue that they'd flip back to female if you edited them but other than that nothing was broken that I know of. Last year the textures would turn horrible when they were flagged as male. I know they woudln't specifically fix it but they could've changed something to make it work again.

In 2K16 you could flip the gender hex to the opposite value and leave it there with no issues, it even enabled blood for women with no fuss.

2K17 and 2K18 would make the CAW's model a garbled mess if you didn't change the hex back before confirming the match you were setting up. Basically you had to flip it so the menu would let you select them first then change it back to it's original value but you also had to make sure it was a No DQ match or it would end as soon as a male hit a female.

I'd like to test it out in the new game myself at some point, just to hopefully see if behaves like 2K16 again. I don't really care for inter-gender matches, I just would like my women to be able to get some color when the matches get wild. It's stupid to have weapons or a steel cage involved and not have any blood.

Okay, I can confirm that gender flipping a CAW still makes them look like they melted. Set a female to male to pick her in the menu, switched her back before starting the no DQ match, she looked fine in her entrance, but changed to a garbled mess for the male's entrance and during the match. :(

Well that sucks. That's what I want them for too, I like having a female only show for CAWs in universe, I also felt like males got more stories but that might not be true. Maybe there's a different way to enable blood?

Probable long shot but did you try just leaving her as male and not setting her back?

She'll still look all messed up if you leave her set to male. I'm not sure anything can be done about enabling blood for women, I asked the same question earlier this year and pretty much got a resounding "no." But what I'm wondering now is if there's separate value from the gender hex that dictates which gender's assets it's trying to load when you do flip it. It's possible that the blood mechanics are tied to the assets and not the gender value directly. That's honestly outside of my wheelhouse though, I wouldn't know the first place to look. Not even sure whether or not the seasoned modders here could figure it out.

bruising looks really good this year but it disappears by the end of the match

I'm wondering that too. If there's just a blood trigger somewhere, wouldn't you be able to set it with cheat engine? Assign a button like press 7 to have player 1 bleed and 8 for player 2.

I got as far as checking just the majority of the binary hex values of the female CAW I was using for testing because I'm not that knowledgeable of such things beyond that. I just know that first one is for gender with 00 for male and 01 for female but there are also two unused gender settings for 02 and 03 that are in data sheet here as "Exotico" and "Midget." I tried them and they just behave like alternate male and female settings that still scrambled my CAW's appearance the first try and crashed the game as soon as the cursor lit up to pick the opponent on the second try. So since the gender hex isn't binary per say, I can't assume any value that controls blood functionality would be too, if it's even just a single hex value. And if we did manage to find it, there's no guarantee they programmed in the means to tell the game how specifically to render the blood texture on female models, it could just show nothing or paste it somewhere random like their shoulder or a shoe. I remember 2K14 did that a lot if you changed your female CAW's male, the blood would show up on their T-shirts or kneepads but nowhere on their skin.

I get the feeling Yukes has it set up like it is intentionally, they know full well that we'd keep trying to enable it after it worked so effortlessly in 2K16. Despite that we're all normal sensible people that just want to get the most out of our new wrestling game, someone at WWE probably caught wind of it and told them to make it more difficult to modify. Probably wanted to avoid potentially bad PR if some weirdo recorded and posted footage of women in the game getting beat up by men or with blood all over their faces.
