From what I understand of movesets it would be something very difficult to fix I'm not 100% sure.  It almost seems like the "selling animation" for that strike isn't in that male wrestlers moveset, I don't know if different have different movesets or what... we'd need to breakdown the movesets more, I'm sure you can lend a hand and help out a little bit.

I've made a rather fun discovery while researching this year's .pofo files, although it might not be particularly useful. Looks like there is a third gender partially implemented this year. I like to call it "Exótico". That gender can fight females or males and even compete for (and win) male or female titles and even hold them simultanously. However it's only partially implemented and thus bugged, as you have to select an "Exótico" as first wrestler in the match to be able to fight males or females. Also, when an "Exótico" hits a female they get disqualified just like males do (If you turn of DQ for the match they can hit them, however). You can't assign male or female titles to this gender manually either. In addition, like females in the game, an "Exótico" doesn't seem to be able to get bloodied either.

LOL!:lol Anyways great work already Pozzum! So does the memory sheet have the gender values yet for the divas at least. I am surprised that this year the divas don't bleed, since Sahsa Banks did in her match against Charlotte. But anyways it would be great if we had the gender hex values so that we can edit them in Cheat Engine. Keep up the good work!

EDIT: Nevermind, I see the gender tab but it is glitched on the Google Doc. It appears that some other text is over the gender text tab. It says gender under the Outside Suplex text which should be in its own tab. A minor fix is all that is needed. Thank you so much for all the hard work! Time to beat up Bayley and make her bleed!

I've updated the reindex script. Seems the issue was a discrepancy between dos and unix line endings that was causing crashes/freezes for some users. So remedy this a small commandline utility is included (dos2unix). It would be great if everyone could test it out and make sure its working on all configs.

What it Does

It backs up, and then updates the DEF file so that the game can read new files that have been added.

How To Use It

1) Unzip the contents of the zip file into your "WWE 2K18" folder.

2) Run the "Update Index" batch script.

3) Launch game and confirm everything is working.

TROUBLESHOOTING

After spending WAY to many hours helping people troubleshoot, I've come to the realization that people who have installed their game in either "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" are going to have issues. It seems that newer versions of Windows will not allow the necessary commands to be executed inside of a Program Files folder. I don't think there is a way to script around this.

The workaround would be to move your game install to a different folder not inside of Program Files (ex: "C:\SteamGames"). There are several ways to do this (google is your friend).

This may seem like a lot of hassle for a simple index script, however arena mods in the future will also likely rely on batch scripting as they did in 2K16 so it is easier to do it now before modding gets into a full swing. I suspect that running the game outside of the Program Files folder will lead to fewer modding issues in general.

I watched the texture edit tutorial and there it was stated to create a mod folder within 2k18 and then edit the chunk0.def file with the files listed there. As far is I understood, after running the update file, the new entry should be added at the end of the chunk0.def file.

However, there is no entry. When manually adding the entry in the chunk0.def file and then running the update, it is gone again.

Am I missing some point here?

The update script rewrites the whole file, so it won't necessarily be at the end. It rewrites the entire folder/subfolder contents.

So far all I'm having issues with as far as porting wrestlers from older games over is props.

Hogans shirt rip causes a CTD

Everything else works as expected.

Added a bit more information re the Index Update script that is pertinent to users who have their game installed in either "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)".

That means it does not delete the voice overs or something?

so far nope

some voice overs are in the character_ss6_m.pac so there's a chance that others are in the other character_ssx_m.files and i just didn't pay attention in game.

but from what I heard, the character ssx (except for 6) are "special" commentary for ub game wrestler (when they talk specifically about someone), all comm are general commentary, and day1patch, are for dlc day 1 wrestler.

once again still not 100% sure as I didn't listen every file in those, just randomly tested around 20 files in each pck and that's how it looks

Hello everyone.  I posted this in my mods thread, but I wanted to share here as well.  I have found a way to remove the static filter from WWE 2K18 on the retro arenas.  This is the "1.0" version as @LordJustice17 and I have been discussing a better way to do it, but this way works as well.

Download the 2K18 Static Filter Remover

Download Link

All you need to do is:

  • Make sure your game is not running
  • Backup your current \pac\bg\bgeffect.pac
  • Copy the new bgeffect.pac into \pac\bg\
  • And then start the game back up

From there, the filter effects should be gone.  Contact me if you have any issues!  Enjoy!
