tomwearsglasses Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 I've been trying to switch Jerry Lawler in my game with Bobby Heenan, but I've mostly only been able to get it to crash so far . Wondering if anyone else has tried this and if so have they had any success. Here's what I've learned so far: - Probably to save on game resources, it looks like the game uses a smaller, minimal-texture ch file for each commentator in game with fewer components than the wrestlers. - That ch file has an 06 ending (as opposed to the 02 for in-ring and 04 for entrance files we usually work with). - Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler each have an 02 ch as well, but announcer JBL (114) and the two Spanish Announcers do not. I'm guessing the 02's are used for cut scenes or just carryovers from an old game - I haven't explored them much but if I replace them it doesn't seem to affect the model at the announce table. - If I inject a game model yobj in the 0000 slot, the game crashes. - If I inject a hair model yobj in the 2715 slot, the object doesn't show - the match runs fine just with a bald announcer. - If I change the textures in the 000A file, it works fine AND I can see the new textures. So the files are moddable, but something doesn't match up perfectly with normal ch file elements. I'm not sure if the crashing is happening because the yobj files are incompatible, or if there's a smaller file size max for announcers than for wrestlers, or if I'm doing something else wrong. If I make new discoveries I'll update this post, but if anyone else has had more success I'd love to learn more. 1 Quote
LordJustice17 Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 In my experience so far, it doesn't seem possible to use a regular ch pac in place of an announcer or referee. It is likely related to the fact that announcer/ref objects have far fewer vertices. For example, and announcer head has roughly 1500 vertices whereas a regular ch has almost 4000. 2 Quote

They definitely use less elaborate pac's to so the announcers don't hog graphics resources. But I'm wondering if it's a game limit (i.e. 40mb instead of 80mb for the pac as a whole), or a vertex limit, or something else. Quote
kevan1700 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 id like to swap out jbl for jr. is that possible seeing as theyd both be aanouncer pac based? Quote

Well the sound is a whole other matter. That would involve finding the proper sounds, matching them up, and injecting them all....for a few thousand calls. Quote
