A new update or Steam redownloading stuff on it's own?

Steam downloaded a 3.9 GB update for WWE 2K17 at 5:12 AM CST for me. Not sure if it's a new update or what, but I definitely didn't initiate anything to make Steam re-download my files. It was auto downloaded. I jumped the gun and assumed it was a new update, but upon booting up the game, the version is still 1.06. Soooo, I'm not sure what's going on??

EDIT: Crap. I think I know what happened. I moved my WWE 2k17 folder via Steam to my secondary hard drive to save space on my SSD. I thought it was just changing the path and everything would stay intact and the same, but I guess it re-downloaded some of the base files.

@Cave Waverider @pozzum Is there anywhere in Data Editor or WWE2K17+ backups that would have retained my string file? I had quite a few custom made strings.

Did you also post on the steam page hub? Because someone there is also reporting the same size update.

you can back up string filr by change  the file on the photo to string_win.pac or remove ( .bak ) and dont forget remove the original string_win.pac 149606410419751.jpg

The Data Editor doesn't change the string file and doesn't backup it either. By default, WWE 2k17+ backs up your string file if it replaces it, so you might check it's backup folder to see if you are in luck.

There are a LOT of posts on 2K17's community hub on Steam that the game isn't loading for them.
