Freon Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Hopefully someone can help me as I'm stuck and can't proceed from here. This is only for anyone who has experience using 3Ds MAX and X-REY. No Blender, ZBrush, RINO, or anything else i might have skipped, except Mudbox is use that, which I'm not familiar but can learn. Blender drives me up the wall. This is what I've done so far. We will be using Sheamus as a guinea pig along with Scott Dawson to keep the identity of the mystery wrestler being created a mystery. 1) Using Anotomizer i open Scott Dawson 0000.yobj, and move Object Beard to the top. Save it with 1 render. 2) We decompress Sheamus using X-Packer, create a new pach, add 001A.pac from THE ROCK, and inject the 0000.yobj (DAWSON's BEARD) into 001A.pac. Copy it 001A.pac to a different folder for neatness and rename it 001A.yobj. 3) We launch 3Ds MAX. Using Tekkens Import script we import Sheamus 0000.yobj. 4) Using the same Tekken script, we import Dawson's beard which was renamed to 001A.yobj. At this point the file is 293kb Now here is where things seem to mess up. If i was to export DAWSONS' beard without doing any edit of any kind at this point, and insert the object back into 001A.yobj. It says File Injected. No problem. Works Fine. HOWEVER, if i do any edit using the Freeform tools, for instance Shift, push/pull AND THEN export 001A.yobj using Tekkens export script for objects. If i try to import the object back into 001A.yobj (DAWSONS BEARD) using X-Rey, i get ERROR: FILE MUST CONTAIN THE SAME NUMBER OF VERTICES. When i look at the file, its now 405kb. I've tried over 50 different combinations of exporting and i can't seem to get it right. Somewhere during the exporting process, something is obviously changing. I have no problems making texture edits using Photoshop and had no problems morphing and editing Jushin Liger, but for some reason on this project, the beard thing just doesn't work for me. If anyone has had the same experience with 3Ds max, or knows exactly what I'm doing wrong, please chime in. Below is a pic, in case my explanation was off. Quote
Freon Posted April 18, 2017 Author Posted April 18, 2017 Selecting individual vertices and deleting them seems to have worked for injecting. Now to test in game Quote
Freon Posted April 18, 2017 Author Posted April 18, 2017 Welp, it worked. Yet i can't help but think it wasn't the right way to do it. What i did was select object properties initially to see how many vertices were on hand for the object. For some reason, as soon as i would start to edit, 3Ds Max changes the number by 4. In other words it would add 4 more vertices. I could continue to edit freely and the amount would not increase or decrease. So for instance if it was 2916 it would become 2920. So what i did was switch to see the individual vertices and select one and delete, until i deleted 4. Checked the object properties and it was back to the initial number. Would still like to know what causes it to add 4 extra vertices. So if anyone has that info, please share. Quote
