The Anti Source Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Hey all, I've decided I'd like to contribute to the WWE 2K modding scene, and while I'm not smart enough to make character mods or anything, I'd like to at least help out with entrance themes. I've been using Wwise to convert songs to the .wem format, but I've noticed sometimes the music isn't loud enough. I've been following this tutorial to convert them, and it does mention putting a volume setting (or sorts?) higher, but I feel like my themes still get drowned out by crowd noise. So in short, does anyone know what setting I'd play around with to increase overall volume of the songs? Thank you!! Quote
4 Life Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 @The Anti Source Convert them with Sound-Converter tool in Sound Editor 2017 mate, it has the ReplayGain plugin built in which can be used to get the volume right in the conversion process. Tick the "Apply track gain" button to start with. The "Target volume" slider has a range of 89-105dB and each notch represents 1dB - from personal experience after injecting a LOT of themes last year and this year, 102dB is the sweet spot, so set the slider to 3 notches from the right to set the target volume to 102dB and click Convert and it'll be a good volume Quote

I've tried using that sound converter in Sound Editor 2k17, but I ALWAYS get: "file 0 wav conversion failed. Please make sure to run this tool with administrator rights". I've right clicked on it and manually chosen "Run As Administrator" and edited the properties to always run as an admin, but I still get that message. Quote

What tool have you been using to convert them currently? Quote
The Anti Source Posted March 10, 2017 Author Posted March 10, 2017 I just use DVDVideoSoft's Audio Editor to quickly convert mp3s to .wav files, then I open up Wwise to convert the .wav to a .wem. Quote

Alright, well whatever works Best thing I can advise you to do then is download MP3Gain ( MP3Gain ) and use that to set the MP3 volume to 102dB before converting it. Open the program, drag and drop your mp3 into the big white box. Set the "Target "Normal" Volume" to 102.0 dB, then click the big Track Gain button at the top. This will read the overall volume of your mp3, then change it to 102dB. Then convert that to WAV and then to WEM 1 Quote
The Anti Source Posted March 10, 2017 Author Posted March 10, 2017 Ugh, it's so FRUSTRATING I can't get Sound-Converter to work. It just doesn't make sense. But yeah, I guess I'll just do the extra step with MP3Gain. Thank you for the link!! @4 Life, One more thing: So I opened MP3Gain and followed your steps, but noticed raising the dB to 102 causes the track to turn red and basically tell me there will be audio clipping if I apply it to 102. Is this normal? Quote

Is this normal? Yeah totally normal mate, unfortunately the audio editors at 2K are total fucking amateurs and chose to set their audio to a silly volume so there may be a little bit of distortion, but thankfully the arena effect that gets applied during entrances and victories helps it sound nicer. Even audio files that are extracted from the game are distorted sometimes so yeah, the clipping is unavoidable if you wanna get the volume right but it should sound fine. 1 Quote
