eplate2 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 anybody else getting this error message when trying to load the game? I haven't loaded it since Monday and noticed there was an update downloaded for it through Steam earlier today and now when I try to play I cannot load it. I get this message instead: anybody know a fix for this? I do have mods installed (only sound editor music files and 1 CM Punk pofo installed Quote
eplate2 Posted March 9, 2017 Author Posted March 9, 2017 hm ill try that once im done having steam validate game files -- thanks Quote
Perfectplex Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 if you have mods installed it will crash using the official cache files which is what validating will put back. The best thing to do is to either remove your mods for now and let the game update and reinstall all the default files or you have to replace both chunk_cache.bin and chunk_cache2.bin files with dummy files so it loads with mods in your folders. The only real MOD I have aside from replacing song files (which I just replaced the files using sound editor and I didn't back up the music) was a CM Punk pofo and pac file. I remember copying over a file that replaced one already in the game but not even sure what that was Quote
Perfectplex Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 You will get the hang of it all, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but understand the general idea just from trial and error but backing up files is a must, without it I'd have made life a lot harder for myself with my experimenting. If you move your chunk_cache.bin and chunk_cache2.bin files somewhere safe (not in the 2k17 folder at all) then you can easily make a couple of new dummy files. right click and make a notepad file, you will see it is called "New Text Document.txt" just rename this to "chunk_cache.bin" (notice the .txt is no longer the extension) then do another one and call it "chunk_cache2.bin" now you have two new dummy files to replace the official cache files in the WWE2K17 folder. Please note that if you dont have an SSD harddrive it will take a little longer to load up the first time but after that it will be faster until you clear your cache or restart your pc. It should now run the game fine with or without your mods you had installed. Quote

I hope you have a nice night good sir! Quote
