Alternative way to replace Renders

@Perfectplex wrote a very good tutorial about render replacing in 2k17. I want to show an alternative way. In this tutorial i'm using Resorep a tool that allows to replace textures in a similar way like some Emulators do (dolphin, project64)

@xevon2 created a nice video tutorial that shows how you can use this tool. He is mainly focused on caws. But it works also for renders.

Ok, download the tool from here you need a account there to download. Or download from sendspace mirror

Start the tool Resorep and add the WWE2K17_x64.exe by clicking the "+" Button.

Now start 2k17 in window mode, goto exhibition > 1 vs. 1 > normal.

Switch to Resorep and enable the "Save original textures" checkbox.

Switch back to 2k17 and start browsing through the wrestler list to the render you want to replace. Resorep will dump the render texture into the "original/DXGI_FORMAT_BC7_UNORM" folder

You can preview this dumped textures with PicoPixel.

You should now disable texture dumping, because it slows down the game.

Now you can create your custom render with either paint shop like @xevon2 did in his video tutorial or with paint.net like @Perfectplex did.

Finally place you render in the "modded" folder and named it exactly like original render you want to replace. Don't create any sub folders there.

2k17 should now display your modded render.

PROS: you can change the render in real time, no need to restart the Game. Also good for testing.

CONS: you must start Resorep every time you play the game or the original render gets displayed again.

And like in @perfectplex tutorial it's not possible to add extra renders to game.

Credit:

Ray Wing for creating this wonderful tool.

@xevon2 for the video tutorial (i think he made it inside of an airplane)

@Perfectplex for the original tutorial (maybe still the best way of doing)

Old tutorial is outdated, just watch this youtube video from Gaming Tech

Interesting. I'm sure this wouldn't work for mod renders, would it?

You mean add renders for added mods? No, this not possible. You can only replace renders.

it would be interesting to see if ic can read FTM CAWs and see if the textures are actually warped or just in the application

I dumped honkytonkmans render from 2k16 and renamed the Image to replace AJ Styles render in 2k17. It works but the 2k16 render is a little bit larger.

If someone wants to test, just extract these 2 files into the "modded" folder from the Resorep tool.

Did you enable the "Save original textures" checkbox?

Damned :D it's work perfectly, this tool is really great. It's more practical than I ever imagine, you can use this if you are too lazy to inject the image/ render  I'm really enjoyed and evidently this tool can be use for any other mod purposes. Amazing :) Thanks man!

@kim666 hello friend, nice discover, but we can put just one render like type B or all 3 types? Sorry i don't understand... thank you!

You can replace any texture you want. You "just" need to find and dump the texture.

There is no list at the moment. But if more users find this way of render replacing useful, we could start a list.

For first testing: AJ Styles Renders are 4300142.dds and 4684599.dds.

@kim666   Same problem here......i  enable save original texture, but  resorep don't dump nothing in my original folder why?

Some User reported he got it working by replacing the d3d11.dll in the 2k17 folder, with the one in Windows/system32.
