That's the reason why it doesn't work. The pac format changed with 2k17. You can either donate for X-Packer 2017 or use the free tool pac editor

Yea I have same issue with opening 2k17 pac files with Xpacker 2017. Every pac I try to open in the ch section comes up with the Invalid pac file selected. And yes I have a legitimate steam copy of WWE2k17.

You sure you have the newest version of X-packer installed, also make sure you use (ctrl+4) and not the regular load .pac option, it works though for sure(I have injected many 2k17 .pac files into 2k16 .pacs at this point), you might want to reinstall.

Ok Ctrl+4 works, why doesn't regular .pac load work?

That only works for 2k16 .pac files, it's just how it is for now at least, if you extract the SHDC and want to open it, make sure you use ctrl+5

Ok opening the SHDC file should list the main files in the pac right? Like the textures

Yeah, from what I know, you can just click "decompress all" and then open each of the ".pac" files with HxD, if they have the header "DDS" in the upper right, that means it's a texture file, you then change the file extension of that .pac file to .dds and open it with Visual Studio to view it.  I don't know about AO maps, etc yet, I'm just doing menu/arena texture modding atm, I'm sure there are a lot of tutorials though, check here: http://smacktalks.org/forums/topic/56381-pc-modding-tutorials-list-updated-to-1007/

Alright thanks

Ok for some reason even after I rename the file extension to .dds it won't open in Photoshop. It says its a pac file when you look at the file info
