Videos made in CAV are dark and laggy?

Hi guys, 

Whenever I create a video using cutscenes from promos and universe mode in the Create-a-video mode, after I have exported and encoded them for use in things such as titatrons, they become really dark and extremely laggy. Is there any reason for this? Is it a known bug? Is there any mod that can fix this?
