hex editing attire one this year is different :S...

Hi i noticed hex editing the .pacs on the first attire is not the same this year.

For example, i want to change AJ Styles 1st attire (default) with his 4th attire (black) from the 10 attire pack on here...

Last year i would have just switched 61002 with 61032 but this year it is not as easy as that, for example attire one ooks liek a jumbled mess of numbers and letters and no '61002' string to edit anywhere?

Any idea what i have to do to switch them?

Open the 2k17 file with x-packer or pac editor. Extract the pach/sdhc file. Open a 2k16 pac file and inject the extracted pach/sdhc file. And finally change the attire number in the 2k16 pac file l.

wow thats alot of work to switch a attire, i'm not trying to put 2k16 mods into 2k17, i'm just trying to switch a 2k17 mod with another, do i still have to go though that process?

Yes. There is currently no way to rename a 2k17 pach/sdhc in a 2k17 pac file. Because:

Ah fair one, 2k don't like modders do they lol

It's not that hard. You just need to put the desired files in order and then do what kim said. Extract the pach/sdhc file and then inject into any 2K16 pac. Just rename via hex like before and that's it.

I don't know if they really care about modders. Because the game still loads the 2k16 files. That doesn't make much sense if they wanted to prevent modding.

Well, if you don't try, you'll never learn. I'm no modder but I always at least try to learn something from those who do. This particular area isn't that hard if you at least try. If you find some issues, ask for some help and I would gladly give it.

You should always force yourself to finish anything. Never stop learning.

Fair enough. Like I said, I'm no modder but I've learned my share over the years by trying and asking for help to those who do know more than me. I'm sure you will find it easier than initially thought.

guaranteed buddy, as with the rest i did, i'll dump it on the to do list.

Hello, I recently purchased XPacker. Can anyone post a step by step solution on how to convert a 2k17 pac file to a 2k16 which it will finally show the attire number? I have read that you have to Open the 2k17 file with x-packer or pac editor. Extract the pach/sdhc file. Open a 2k16 pac file and inject the extracted pach/sdhc file. And finally change the attire number in the 2k16 pac file . But since I am new to X packer I cannot understand how it works. Can somenone help me?

Open X-Packer. Hit Ctrl+4, then browse to the ch pac file that you want to extract the SHDC from. Open that, then hit Extract on the one file that the pac contains, as this is your SHDC. Save the SHDC to your desktop.

Copy a 2K16 ch pac to your desktop. Any one will do.

Rename it to whatever you need to rename it to - so for example, to put it in the ring attire of slot 150, name it ch15002.pac.

Open it with HxD and change the ID, sounds like you know how to do this already. Save it.

Now open X-Packer and hit Ctrl+H, and browse to the desktop to open your 2K16 pac with the name and ID changed.

Click Inject, then browse to your desktop and find the SHDC you extracted. Select that and it'll inject.

Now copy that into your 2K17 pac/ch folder and make sure there are no clashes in different filenames using the same slot.

wow they made it harder this 2k17,,, why do you think they picked to insert shdc's in pac files over pach's? is it because shdc's give better graphics? :\

I'm having troubles with Step 4 of your instructions because I don't know how to change the ID in HxD because after I extracted the SHDC from xpacker and downloaded a default 2K16 .pac (ch10002.pac), I renamed it where I want it to go opened it in HxD and it looks like this: U9wB2DS.jpg

This is confusing to me because from the tutorials and videos I could find, it shouldn't look like this. Could anyone help me out? Again this is the renamed 2K16 ch pac.

**Just a backstory, what i'm trying to do is make AJ Styles WM33 attire his default/main attire but the SHDC is 61042 (5th slot?) rather than 61002 (first slot)

@TheGreatLiukage it looks like that because it is encrypted, you extract the SHDC from that file(no need to rename it) and inject it into a 2k16 .pac(doesn't matter which one, you could copy/paste and mod you already have and use that) after that it will read EPK8 at the top in HxD, then you can scroll down and see the EMD(ID) #, then you can match it up to the file name :)  Hope that helps

If it's a mod, the modder would already have injected it into a 2K16 PAC, meaning there's absolutely no need to do all of this. Just change the ID.

To change the ID, open it in HxD. Then hit ctrl+g. This will open up the "go to offset" menu - type 800 in there and hit Enter and it'll take you to where the ID is. Change that to whatever you want by clicking before the part you want to change and then type, and it'll automatically overwrite (deleting stuff will change the file size and crash the game - if the file size is going to be changed then you'll get a warning and you can hit the cancel button on that pop-up to cancel any changes and avoid changing the file size). Then save it, make sure you've also renamed the filename accordingly and it should work :)
