Editing names in 2k17?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I'm adding some models from 2k15, 2k16 and I want to change their names as it sucks to have a model coming out with a different name.

Is there a way yet to edit the pofo files or the savefile? thanks!

You can do so manually via cheat engine/hex editor (look at the memory table @pozzum linked in his thread - note, however, that it's still in early stages), but we haven't quite deciphered the values yet. Besides, you'll also have to change the String file to add the names if you're adding wrestlers.

The string.pac file is compressed.

We cannot use a HEX editor on 2K17 pac files that haven't been decompressed.

Who are you planning on porting over Mr.Mael?

Yeah, well, you have to use a decompressed string, then it works. ;)

If you have it and can upload it that would be greatly appreciated.

I second that, I'd love to have it and even if I have X-Packer 2017 I have no clues how to do it. (Also working on more stuff at the moment)

I've released the first (non-GUI) version of the Universal Alternate Attire Unlock for WWE 2k17. It includes a decompressed string_win.pac file (english version only, I wasn't able to decompress any of the other languages, unfortunately, as X-Packer 2017 gave me errors upon injection when trying to do so) as well. Feel free to grab it from there. :)

I made a tutorial on how to do this here you go.

Quick tip, something I do to find all the name placements is change the last letter of the name to a number, then when I spot that number I know which name I changed refers to that placement.

So open with hex editor, find (starting at the very top) the name you want to change, lets say its Chris Jericho as per your example, Change the o to 1, then find the next Jericho and change the o to 2 and so on.

When it comes to number 10 just change the last two letters so it would be Chris Jeric10.

That way you can easily find if a name is shared as in the case of your loading screen.

Also for changing renders see this thread

and this thread

I would upload 2K15's Punk renders but I don't think they look right mixed in with the 2K17 render style, if you would like them though let me know via pm and I'll gladly send you them if needed.

For changing the sound file I am guessing it is shared with the original Chris Jericho but there may be a way to change it to a different sound file via the pofo ? (maybe) otherwise its a minor inconvenience.

For his entrance smoke I can't help you there as it isn't something I have looked into but I'm guessing there is a queue point for effects to be used (lights, smoke, pyro) which can be altered and I'd imagine in due course Data Editor 2017 will provide the means to alter such things (maybe) otherwise I'd look into the entrance animation and look through the hex file to see if you can figure out what triggers the smoke and zero out the bytes to disable it.

Anyway you get the rep from me for a good clear video with plenty of detailed explanation which should be beneficial and maybe consider doing a couple of these videos and starting your own thread of tutorials as this post of your video could easily be missed.

Sorry to re-open an older thread. But I was questioning if there is a way to add a 3rd Hogan and name it "Hulk Hogan '00" or just "Hogan '00"

I see Hulk Hogan several times in the string, but not enough for me to believe that there are two separate Hogan pofos installed.

So you can always edit the string yourself there are a lot of free spots in the super string I would then suggest using that custom slot for your new pofo.

You should be able to edit the super string with just HxD.

Is this the same string file located in the steam commons folder? and how do I know where free spaces are? (If it helps, I injected this one to slot 399.)

So I would suggest downloading the string located in the pinned info thread.  Open that with HxD and do a search for WWE 2K17+ and you will find attire slots with the names including what reference number it is.

Ok. I found all of that.

4546 - WWE 2K17+ User Attires

What would I do with this then? How does this become "Hulk Hogan '00" and how do I link this to the pofo file?

So in HxD Starting at the 4 you'd type on the right hand side Hulk Hogan '00 and then end it with a 00 byte on the left side.

Then you will use 4546 as the name inside the pofo using Data Editor from Cave.
