Mythrell Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 (edited) Love the tool, but I have a weird issue with it, I tried to skim through the thread to see if it was already talked about but I didn't spot anything so here goes... Somehow I managed to put several theme musics into "english (us)" subfolder when trying to inject them. Am I doing something wrong? My process is this: 1) Make a wav file of a theme song 2) Open the tool and open up the game file, use sound-converter and use *.* filter to see wav files, convert it (I don't know if this is supposed to work or not, since it seems to default only to MP3.. conversion works just fine however) 3) Pick the theme song I want to replace, Import and select the WEM made in previous step. EDIT: OK upon further testing, it seems that everytime I import a song on top of a theme song I've already imported once before, it gets transferred to english (us) folder and does not work in game anymore (it's just silence). The replaced song does show up correctly in english (us) subfolder, but I don't know if there's a way to move it back to proper sfx folder. I've managed to botch several generic theme songs so far, I don't know if there's any other way to recover than to download the sound file again. Edited May 31, 2017 by Mythrell more details Quote
Mythrell Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Ok, first off just a warning, I don't really know how your software works or how exactly the new game hex stuff should go, but I started to dig just to see how deep the rabbit hole would be so here are few things I noted when the bug happens: First off, the bug seems to be more or less random, It can happen when I replace few songs, replace same song multiple times or just randomly when replacing a song. So here's an example what happened: I imported song as usual, this time from MP3 (since wavs seem to get lower volume) to replace "Gothic 1". I took a screenshot from Sound Editor because this song replacement haven't worked out so far (I get this bug every time). As usual, in game the sound didn't work (silent) and when reloading the file with Sound Editor, "Gothic 1" was moved in the english (us) sub section. When I compared the screenshot to Editor, everything else was same on the "Gothic 1" except that the "Target" value changed. In screenshot it's notably longer than others, 04 EC 84 01 E1 while after reload the editor showed EC 84 01 E1 (so the leading 04 was missing). I dug up my hex editor and after some hex flipping replaced the 04 in the games music file with 00 and saved. This caused the "Gothic 1" to go back into "sfx" section in the Sound Editor when I reloaded the file. Song was still silent in game, and from what I understand, I think the song is saved in wrong location in the game file for whatever reason. Well, I hope this gives some clue what's going on, I don't think I can get much else out from it. Quote
TheVisitorX Posted May 31, 2017 Author Posted May 31, 2017 (edited) Regarding your first issue: The SE sound converter does not support wav files, only mp3 files. That's the reason why there is a "filter" for .MP3. This could be the reason why you can't hear anything. Regarding your other issue: That sounds really weird! I've never had such an issue. Do you have the same issue with converted mp3 or wem files? Could you please try to reproduce that issue and write a step by step guide "How to reproduce"? Because I'm able to replace themes multiple times just fine without any issues. Yes, your "target" value is much too long. It needs to be 4 bytes. But it is 5 in your example. The leading byte (archive hex) tells the tool in which directory that sound should be. 00 is sfx. Another thing: The safest way so far would be to use only wem files for the import. But your issue sounds weird and it is hard to reproduce. I have replaced a lot of themes and I've never had such an issue, Edited June 1, 2017 by TheVisitorX Quote
Mythrell Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 I think I screwed up my game music file and it probably caused all these errors. I redownloaded it and realised that it was way too big before (1Gb vs 20Gb).. looks like it was written 00's for 20 gigs lol Quote
TheVisitorX Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 (edited) OMG???? What a strange thing. I hope we can find out why that was happen. Try it again with some new files (make backup before)... And try to use the file conversion to wem first with the sound converter tool (with mp3 files only)... and ".WEM" as import option in SE. It is the safest way, because all other files go through Wwise, which can be an issue in some cases. With MP3 you could also try to use the "Target volume" slider in SE / Apply track gain. It uses mp3gain to make the sounds louder. Edited June 1, 2017 by TheVisitorX Quote
Mythrell Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 I can confirm that now that now it works just fine, I had some crashing issues with it earlier so maybe one of those crashes caused it. After reinstalling all the libraries (WWwise and C++) crashes went away. ) 1 Quote
trioxin1331 Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 (edited) I used CCT to install some renders: Buddy Roberts JImmy Garvin Kevin Von Erich Scott Hall Stephanie McMahon (Diva) Sycho Sid Typhoon Now my game will not start (Crashes on splash screen), it was working fine before. I tried reinstalling them (Incase of some error on my part) and then again with a render that I know works fine, but still the problem persists, could a faulty address have messed things up? could somebody please help?!?! EDIT: FIXED BODGED I managed to temp fix the problem by going to pac/menu/assets/wwe17_singleread/texture/ssface/custom... and then deleting the recently added files but I'm still no wiser as to the cause and now the wrestlers in question don't have any render at all I since tried re-adding them 1 by 1 and it seems that they all cause the crash but changing an existing one does not, I currently have 175 files exactly in these custom a/b/c folders, is this the limit? Since the problem arose I managed to install John Morisson fine through WWE 2k17+ but I am now trying to install some Kane attires and everything I add to the game seems to make it crash, have I reached some kind of file limit here? TheVisitorX Posted June 3, 2017 Author Posted June 3, 2017 (edited) Do you have an emtpy chunk_cache.bin file? Edited June 3, 2017 by TheVisitorX Quote
trioxin1331 Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 (edited) Finally figured the problem, turns out there's some sort of pach file limit that I must have hit, guess I ate it up with all the attires and renders, so nothing to do with your fine tool after all, sorry for the confusion Edited June 3, 2017 by trioxin1331 1 Quote
trioxin1331 Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Upon further investigation there is a limit of 175 on each of the custom a/b/c folders, is there any way this could be raised? thankyou Quote
TheVisitorX Posted June 5, 2017 Author Posted June 5, 2017 (edited) @trioxin1331 Are you really sure? I didn't even know that there are any limits. I think @4 Life has replaced a lot of render images last year.. But I'm not sure if something has changed with 2K17. You could try to do the following: Move some of the (a,b,c) files from WWE2K17\pac\menu\assets\wwe17_singleread\texture\ssface\custom_typeX to another directory. I'm not sure if this would work. Maybe it is necessary to build an archive to support more files. @robbie686 Can you confirm that? Did you successfully replace more than 175 render images? Edited June 5, 2017 by TheVisitorX Quote
JonasSlasher Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 (edited) Hey @TheVisitorX, im having troubles replacing 80's 1 with Hulk Hogan, 90's 1 with Chris Benoit, and 90's 2 with Batista's themes.. how to reproduce: i inject the wem files in their respective slots in the game_m.pck sound file i use data editor to make there sounds the selected ones, i check all work around musics, i install the moveset file in game.. everything is working but: 1. hulk hogan's (80's 1) is just silence 2. chris benoit (90's1) still plays original music, despite playing correctly in the sound injector preview feature "Play" 3. batista (90's 2) plays the original 90's 1 i have been able to replace 80's 2 with AJ Lee, 80's 3 with Kurt, Biker with Rey, and Billionaire with RVD.. Update: Hogan is fixed,, the custom entrance wouldnt play the Music... it was my ported 2k15 entrance animation's fault remaining problems: 1. chris benoit 2. batista both have solely music problems as it seems that 90's music is hard to change.,, i dont have any custom animations for these 2 guys, so i am positive that it is the music... do you or does anyone have any experience with successfully inserting custom wem on 90's music? Newest update: i just put a bandage on it and dodged the bullet by not using 90's 1 and 2.. I hope the other music arent like this.. Edited June 6, 2017 by JonasSlasher Quote

Yes i can confirm all renders in 2K17 are replaceable with no problems inc superstars and all managers even some NPC - If you are facing any problems after replacing them i'm afraid its because you have done something wrong. How many files do you have in your custom a/b/c folders? mine is definitively topping out at 175 then causing a crash Quote

(I'm a bit of a noob with this stuff but' as there's a similar limit on the pac/ch folder (32gb) is this a file system thing?) Yeah I made all the renders fine no issues there, guess I'm gonna have to make some space though if the cap is undajustable, does anyone know of a good way to compress these .dds files? JonasSlasher Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 (edited) @trioxin1331 if your theory on maxed 32mb making your game crash is true.. Then try opening your render file (which is one of those pac files in your custom a,b,c folder) using pac editor. then what you do is extract the dds inside and then reinject it by compressing it as bpe Edited June 6, 2017 by JonasSlasher 1 Quote

Interesting, because - if I remember correctly - each dds file is already zlib-compressed. Edited June 6, 2017 by TheVisitorX Quote

Yeah, I replaced most of the roster last year. Will eventually get around to doing the same this year but where I've changed my plans in terms of modding I've gotta start from scratch with a lot of the renders Quote
