Is it possible to transfer a game save from an unauthorized CODEX version of the game to a legit Steam version?

I downloaded a cracked version of the game to try it out for a little while before deciding to buy and now I'm curious if it's possible to transfer the CAW and whatnot to my freshly installed Steam version so I don't have to start over.

I know using a cracked version is especially frowned upon here but I thought maybe since I was only using it as a trial and have in fact purchased the full game I might get a little leniency from the community. :)
