savegame checksum algorithm

Hi all,

I've looked at the savegames on PC and was able to unpack and repack most of them. I am trying to mod CAS/CAW.
Also I could reconstruct some internal headers, so that my generated files are identical to the original game files.

But the game does not accept these, saying they are corrupted. Looking at the existing files, a file called maincsdb0042 seems to be there to watch over all others, i.e. has some kind of checksum mechanism making sure all saves match up.

Has anybody circumvented this or has some ideas how this is working?

If not mistaken, that main file is the one that usually "corrupts" when I download something from CC. I've been experiencing that issue for a while now, where I'm downloading things and randomly one of them will come with the warning "damaged content" and from that moment on it's all a mess. Save failed to retrieve etc etc.

Also noticed that when the "damaged content" happened, all the other main files disappeared and that main file was the only on there (on the save folder) and ended in .smpt or something similar to this.

No idea why this is happening since months ago never had a single corruption. Now it's like downloading little things once in a while, always knowing that the next download might corrupt everything again.
