Deleting backgrounds from custom logos?

I know how to use Photoshop to make the background of an image transparent, but, when I save the image and upload it, it has a white background and it is useless in game. Can someone please explain to me how I would go about editing an image in Photoshop, getting rid of the background, saving it, and it just being the image/logo in game with no background once you upload it to the game? If it matters, I am on PS4. Thanks in advance.

Fill it with the skin color

Are you saving them as PNGs?

No. I have been saving them as .jpg files. I didn't know that it made a difference. and how would I fill it with skin color and how woul that make them usable if I am using the logog as a ring logo or something other than a tattoo?

If you save them as PNG's, the background stays transparent.
