Goon3r73 Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 I know this is a long shot with 2K17 a few days off release and all, but I was thinking has anyone attempted to make a mod of Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan doing commentary during matches? Imo I thought those two were one of the best commentary teams in wrestling besides Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. 1 Quote
4 Life Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) If you mean literally doing commentary rather than just replacing the models, it's possible but I don't see anyone taking it on. The sound file structure is a fucking mess, quite frankly - meaning, there are literally thousands of sound files and they're all just chucked in together in no particular order, so it'd mean sifting through and listening to thousands of files to find out which ones are commentary, and noting the IDs and what is said, creating a file for each bit of commentary and injecting them all. So whilst it's possible, it'd take a hell of a long time. I also tried ripping all the commentary audios from WCW Mayhem but haven't had any luck either way, if I could do that then I guess it might be something I take on in 2K17 IF I finish the rest of my Monday Night Wars project in good time, but I'm certainly not promising anything tbh lol. Goon3r73 Posted October 9, 2016 Author Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) I'm intrigued by what you say about your Monday Night Wars project. What is it? Who does it involve? How are you doing on it?Btw Ive had no luck in sorting out swapping a character out for a modded one. God knows what I'm doing wrong with it but its not working for me atm.Edit: No matter, Ive just realised I use a lot of your stuff from your Thread and realised its the same Monday Night Wars project. Yes very very ambitious. but very very good too. I dare say a lot of work has been put into it, and I dare say a lot more yet to come. What you have done so far is mint. I look forward to a final release as and when you complete it. For now though Ive used a lot of your attires, models, renders, themes etc and I must say they are very good. Well done to you and a big thank you for providing us all with such material to use in our games. Edited October 9, 2016 by Goon3r73 Quote
4 Life Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Thanks mate, yeah tbh it's gonna be something I'll finish up on 2K17 IF everything ports over, which I imagine it should because same gen normally = same file structure. Got most of the character mods I need from a number of other modders, though obviously I'd have to get permission to include them in the download. Other than that though I've still gotta do all the themes, trons and call names and still quite a few mods and attires that need doing. Waiting on 2K17 for some of them so I can use the new wrestlers they've added as a base. Quote
tomwearsglasses Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 If you're really interested in doing a full commentary replacement - the first, most time consuming, and probably hardest part would be cataloging all of the sounds that would need to be replaced.A few people like Trap Master and Taha RH did some really nice work organizing the info for the ring announcer sounds in 2K16:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14QujyI7rYNauhbteGK3waTCmqxRyNtlzFM8IErFpsSg/edit#gid=1544819225Doing commentary would be an even bigger cataloging project. But the one review I've read so far noted this year's commentary as being particularly bad - so it could be a worthwhile project.________________As far as changing the models so that they look like the commentary team - I'm definitely gonna work on some alt attires for Bobby Heenan later this year (when I have more time for modding again) - and a WCW announcer attire will definitely be part of that.I don't have any skills at face modding so I can't make Schiavonne - but I'll second your request. Especially someone that can make characters that still have facial animations - which I think are more important for announcers. 1 Quote

You could go as far as saying its totally f****d Quote
