brethbk69 Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 (edited) Hello,I have the steam version of the game, it's been working since release, I've installed great mods from this forum, it's been working great, fired it up today, now it wants me to install the game. I tried replacing the chunk_cache.bin file, but that didn't help. Any help would be appreciated, would hate to re-install the game since I've installed quite a bit of mods over the months. thanks. Perfectplex Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 (edited) Make a backup of your whole WWE2k16 folder AND your saves and do a 'verify game cache', this will fix and replace missing files, then once its done installing, disable cloud backup for your saves, now you can start reinserting your mods from your backup folder.I'm not sure why it would act like it isn't installed at all though, sounds more like a path issue through steam, did you move the game? Also, no I didn't move the game, I will check the path and make sure it's still the same. When you say re-insert my mods, should I just copy and move the pac folder from back up on to the WWE 2k16 folder? Thank you again for your advise. Quote
Perfectplex Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 if everything was working fine except for steam that couldn't read the game then just copy from the backup and paste whole folders into the 'fixed' updated folder.if after verifying cache it still cant find the game and insists on redownloading the whole game its probably best that you not only back up your whole game folder once but to make a back up then before it redownloads the whole game just do a completely clean install, then back up the default vanilla installed game if you have the harddrive space, then if you have problems in the future you know you have a completely clean install backed up to save waiting for the entire game to redownload again, also serves as a great way to be fail safe should a mod be installed incorrectly and you mess something up as you would have backups of the default game files.I have guided how to do a clean install here.
