How do we rename attires?

Recommended Posts

Hello, once more, I've got a question that I'm confused about. I'm sure it has to be with HxD edit which is all okay with me.

How do we rename attire names? (Instead of attire 1 to 10, I'd like to be able to rename them...) (Or maybe it's done with the data editor... If anyone could let me know, it'd be more than appreciated :) Thanks in advance!

I was gonna post the same video as above, there's also a text tutorial here (it's for 2K15 but it's the same procedure) if you prefer that sort of thing. It's literally just a case of adding a custom string in the string.pac, then opening up the attire info file in HxD and changing the value of the string that each attire links to, and while you're at it you can change the number of attires and who has alt attires manually rather easily and I personally find it simpler to do that rather than unlocking them through Data Editor and then editing the values.

I saw the video but I don't understand how chaning just 'numbers' will add the words. I have to go through the string pack most likely but WHERE?

thanks for the link of tutorial, I hope I'll be able to do so, it's one thing I hate to see (attire 1,2 ect) would make the game that much better.

The numbers link to values in the string file. By default they're linked to the strings Attire 1, Attire 2 and so on in the string.pac. All you're doing is changing those numbers to a different value - so you link it to one of the unused Wrestlemania strings (marked Reserved in pozzum's String sheet), and change the text of one of those Wrestlemania strings in the string.pac to whatever you want the attire to be called.

That's far from a tutorial of course, just explaining the workings behind it :) I've renamed several attires and had to watch and read those guides a few times to get a basic understanding, but once you've done it a few times you realise how easy it is. Open the modded misc dlc10 file; find the superstar's values (or change someone else's value to their's); change the number of attires to how many you want; change the values of the strings; replace the strings you've linked to in the string file with your own text. Done.

Yeah, it's just very confusing and I'm trying to learn everything really hard.... Since I don't use most of the string 'added' I'm guessing say I don't care/want a Lance Archer, I could just use his 'string placement' for the words I want in for the Alt attire , right? (If I get that correctly, already, it'll be one huge step forward)

It'll all make sense eventually, it's always confusing at first but you'll get it with some perseverance ;)

Yeah dude, any strings that are in the future proof string file that you know you're not gonna use, you can go ahead and replace them in the file (remember that the text you're replacing it with can't be any longer than what it was originally). Then you have to find the value for that string in pozzum's string file (easiest to hit ctrl+H and type what you're looking for, e.g. Lance Archer, and hit Find to find the string on the table) and use those values in the attire file. Remember that the two blocks have to be reversed, so if the string value was, for an easy example, 1234 in the table then it has to be 3412 in the attire file. It'll all make sense when you've gone through the video/text tutorials.

Cool, thanks a bunch (again) :)

Just once more thing that made it easier for me once I noticed it - each wrestler's attire info is 58 blocks long - that is, 58 groups of 00s or whatever value is there. So when you've found the superstar ID and wanna see where it ends then start highlighting blocks until you can see Length:58 in the bar at the bottom and you'll know where your wrestler's attire info stops ;)

One question.. can this also be a workaround to the 100 superstars allowed to have multiple attires? Has anyone successfully exceeded the limit?

Nah mate, to do that you'd have to actually add hex values to the file, which would increase the file size, which would cause the game to crash.
