4 Life Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 (edited) I've put together a pack here that facilitates a full replacement of Sting '91 (surfer Sting) with Sting '98 (Wolfpac Sting). The idea behind replacing Surfer Sting is so he keeps his announcer and commentator call names, as well as keeping certain characteristics like making a "WOO!" sound during taunts and during his winning animation, and of course rather than having the red & black as an alternate attire for Sting '99 and having the same entrance, we can give Wolfpac Sting his own entrance as it was totally different. What I've done with this mod:-Replaced the '91 models with the '99 models via PAC file manipulation, then texture-edited them to change the colours to red & black.-Added Sting '98 string in the string.pac and created a custom .pofo file to change his name from Sting '91 to Sting '98-Injected custom tron and entrance theme and created an Advanced entrance-Injected custom rendersWhat's included in this pack (downloadable as one single .rar file):-ch.pac files - these are the models with my texture mods, just a basic colour replacement mod and it's my first, but it's decent!-Render PACH files - selection screen/match-up screen/health-bar character images, inside PACH files that can be injected straight into your ltag_type.pac files-Modified string.pac - added in a Sting '98 string and this file is required as the names in the pofo link directly to this string-pofo - contains wrestler information, such as names and so on-moveset/entrance file - contains moveset info and entrance settings-WEM (wolfpac theme audio file) - to be injected with Sound Injector-Wolfpac tron - ready to copy-paste titantron video TOOLS YOU WILL NEED TO INSTALL EVERYTHINGX-Packer or HxD to install the render files (or follow alternative method for first-time render replacers, no tools required)Sound Injector to install the .WEM entrance themeCustom Character Tools to install the .pofo and .moveset filesHOW TO INSTALLSTEP 1 - CH.PAC FILES 1) Go into This PC, or Computer, depending on what operating system you're on2) Navigate to your Steam directory (by default this is at c:/program files/Steam) and navigate to steamapps/common/WWE2K16/pac/ch3) Find the two files named ch41002.pac and ch41004.pac4) Cut and paste them to somewhere safe - these will be your backup files5) Copy and paste the files of the same name into the pac/ch folder you just cut those files from, to replace themNOTE: As the models are pretty basic edits at the moment, they may be getting a major update at some point. However, it's still worth completing this conversion as replacing the models will not affect the rest of the mod installation and the changes made in the following steps will remain intact, and replacing the model files will be the same procedure as above which is very simple. I'd recommend subscribing to this thread to be kept up on any update!STEP 2 - STRING FILE 1) Download my modified string.pac file herehttp://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=40328533289605073218 (forgot to include it in the pack, sorry!)2) Go into This PC, or Computer, depending on what operating system you're on3) Navigate to your Steam directory (by default this is at c:/program files/Steam) and navigate to steamapps/common/WWE2K16/pac4) Backup the string.pac file somewhere safe, then copy and paste the downloaded string.pac into this folder, replacing the old string.Alternatively, if you already have experience modifying your string.pac and don't wish to replace it as you have your own modifications, you may add your own string to your own file - either find the Offset starting with 000170A0 if you have the future-proof string and the string text should be WRESTLEMANIA 12; or simply add it in where you like and then edit the provided pofo to link the name to the string you created.STEP 3 - .POFO AND .MOVESET FILES 1) Run the game, go to the main menu. Then go and open Custom Character Tools2) Open the included .pofo and .moveset files in CCT, and click the Install button at the bottom3) Go back in to your game and force it to save the new information. You can do this by going into options and changing something - e.g. going into Game Balance and tweaking one of the meters and applying the changes (then change them back if you wish).4) Close the gameSTEP 4 - .WEM (THEME MUSIC) FILE 1) Open Sound Injector and in the Injector menu, open the .WEM file provided2) From the drop-down list, under themes, select Kevin Nash and click Inject to replace Kevin Nash's (main menu Kevin, not '96 Kevin) music with the Wolfpac theme. NOTE: You can inject it into another theme if you wish, you will then of course have to edit Sting's Advanced Entrance to select the theme that you injected over3) Note that your Sound Injector folder has a backup folder with your previous sound file, that you can use should something go wrongSTEP 5 - TITANTRON VIDEO 1) Go into This PC, or Computer, depending on what operating system you're on2) Navigate to your Steam directory (by default this is at c:/program files/Steam) and navigate to steamapps/common/WWE2K16/movies/titantron3) Find the file named ent_0335_0_0.bk2 - copy and paste it in this folder to make a copy/backup of it.4) Copy and paste the file of the same name included in the pack into the movies/titantron folder and replace the existing file to overwrite Kevin Nash's titantron5) If you wish to overwrite someone else's tron instead, you will have to firstly rename the file included in the pack with the same name as the file you're going to replace, then copy and paste the renamed file into the titantron folder to overwrite (also ensuring you first make a backup of the original file). Then, you'll need to change the titantron setting in Sting's Advanced Entrance settings to whoever you replaced.STEP 6 - MENU RENDERS This is the most complicated step (unless you follow my complete beginner's method below), but I've done most of the hard work by creating the PACH files - all you need to do is inject them into the corresponding PAC files - these PACH files are located in the Renders folder of the pack, each file in its own individual "type" folder (type a, type b and type c). This is easiest done with X-Packer but if you don't have it, you can also do it via hex edit with HxD - easy-to-follow tutorial here for whatever method you are using to inject these renders:COMPLETE BEGINNER'S METHOD:This is for those that have never replaced renders before. If you have, these ltag_pac files will overwrite your old ones and any new renders you have placed into the game will be replaced with the original ones. NOTE: I'd recommend backing up your original ssface folder before you replace it1) Open the Renders folder of the pack and copy the folder named ssface2) Navigate to your Steam directory (by default this is at c:/program files/Steam) and navigate to steamapps/common/WWE2K16/pac/menu/assets/_wwe16singleread3) Paste the ssface folder into the _wwe16singleread folder, replacing the existing ssface folder and all of its contents DOWNLOAD THE PACK:http://www.megafileupload.com/fltO/Sting__91_to_Sting__98_Conversion_Pack.rar?pt=Nbl3CiHGF5gVYcvF67udGmcsR%2FbFsUU83AhEDVAuNyQ%3D VIDEO PREVIEW:https://vid.me/1WZ2 Edited June 19, 2016 by 4LifeBrother 3 Quote

4 Life Posted June 14, 2016 Author Posted June 14, 2016 Sounds sweet man! You got my vote for it Thanks man, added a little preview video to the OP so people can see what they're getting. As I said, it's just a very basic texture edit, so nothing fancy as I'm but a humble newb at texture modding for now but when hova is done with his superb mod then, if permission is granted, I'll hex edit his PAC files to replace mine so anyone who already downloaded and installed everything would simply just need to copy-paste them into their pac/ch folder to overwrite the old ones and everything will work with the new models in place Quote
Joseph97 Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I like it! looks good man! Btw how did you put a render to hogan? Quote
4 Life Posted June 14, 2016 Author Posted June 14, 2016 (edited) I like it! looks good man! Btw how did you put a render to hogan? Thanks bro! It could be better but since hova is working on a mod and this is my first attempt at one, I figured I'd just do a basic edit for now. Certainly no worse than any caw I've seen at least Well, 2 bits of interest so far, that's enough for me to get this done. Standard procedure with the Hogan render mate (as in making the dds, injecting into the PACH with X-PacKer and so on), I replaced Konnor Edited June 14, 2016 by 4LifeBrother Quote

You guys keep me wanting to learn and give more backThanks man, yeah it's the same for me. I installed my first mod maybe a month or two ago and since then I've learned SO much, either through experimentation or simply asking advice from others, about how the game files work, and with that knowledge managed to make some stuff of my own. Yet I still have a LOT of stuff I wanna do with my game and still need to dabble in proper attire modding rather than just texture modding (it was initially just aimlessly installing a bunch of WCW guys, but that whole arena conversion pack mod gave me the idea to work on a Monday Night Wars superstars project as I was, am still am, a huge fan of that era of wrestling in general) and I'll be sharing some of my work along the way. It's just that again, other people's mods inspiring me to make and then share my own! 2 Quote

Definitely including them in my own game when I get round to getting some renders done for them either way. It's gonna be a long, long project as I'm looking to make a sizeable roster full of only superstars from that era by replacing all current or golden era superstars... but who knows, maybe somewhere down the line after a bit of a permission-hunt if I ever finish the project, I could release a massive installation pack. Only time will tell I guess, definitely gonna pick up a copy of X-Rey and have a mess around with some proper mods at some point as making some new attires is gonna be a must, I've managed a few bits with texture modding alone but obviously there's some stuff that needs more. Plenty of good character mods out there just waiting for some WCW attires First step laid 1 Quote

I got the game and discovered this community a few months ago and I just keep getting more and more interested as I figure more things out.I like lots of different eras of wrestling but Hulkamania era WWF and Monday Night Wars era WWF/WCW are definitely my favorites so most of my modding efforts are centered around that. My big idea is to eventually do a huge WCW centric project - but given how time consuming creating anything is I think that's gonna be my two year plan. This year I'm trying different small projects that are helping learning how to do different things and what the capabilities are. But I'm also building up assets that I can later use in a bigger project (like Curt Hennig). I'm happy to contribute anything I work on to your project if it helps. 1 Quote

4 Life Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 Has anyone had any issues with the renders? I've tested them fully and they should be working but I've had a message saying someone's had trouble, didn't know if there's a problem or if it's just an incorrect installation going on. Quote
