1,000 files on Save Game Breaking/ Corrupting Save is a MYTH!

It would be a good idea to make a database of all broken CC content. Unfortunately, EVERY SINGLE save corruption due to bad CAWs reported in this forum NEVER mentions what file was downloaded to cause the corruption. So heh.

then you installed it in an incorrect way my friend,, howd you do it? cheat engine? character install? xpacker? 

there are certain videos by pozzum that are very helpful. they are on youtube. 'install superstar using xpacker or cheat engine'

i have learned everything i know with modding using just youtube. 

if you have a working back up of your save folder, that will restore your save game.

It would be a good idea to make a database of all broken CC content. Unfortunately, EVERY SINGLE save corruption due to bad CAWs reported in this forum NEVER mentions what file was downloaded to cause the corruption. So heh.

this will be very hard but possible my friend as sometimes people do multiple downloads and and what if the first thing they downloaded was the one that made the game corrupt, and the second thing they download was a good File. Then that will be hard to detect. 

it is best to check your save in character select after each download. tedious but

I never modded anything so far in case 2k drops another update, I basically haven't touched the game except for using Sound Injector and replacing titantrons by hand and I never got save problems. I know it's anecdotal evidence, but I don't think I've seen someone who got corrupted saves who also didn't claim to have mods.installed 

Of course it's not the fault of the mods themselves, or the modders for that matter, but it might be worth considering. Maybe I'll open a poll asking if anyone who got corrupted saves also used mods, just to have some data on hand.

I had several save corruptions from downloading from the CC (7 corruptions to be exact) but since I started using mods a little over 3 weeks ago I have not had a single corruption yet although I am sure it could happen if I install something improperly. I had a slight issue with getting mini trons & wall trons to work on modded superstars in the beginning but after a few days realized it was an error on my part & I wasn't doing it correctly. Sure there are people who have gotten corrupt saves using mods but majority of the time it is either they left a back up file in their 2k16 folder & didn't realize it or they simply didn't install the mod correctly or they worked directly on their 2k16 folder instead of working on the back up folder 1st to make sure everything was ok.

I luckily hit 997 files but finally tried to check for myself and downloaded another CAW. Results: crash as soon as I try opening any menu. It doesn't say anything about save corruption but the save folder reverted to 40 or so files. 

Luckily I have a backup ready and I'll try Cave's guide, crossing fingers. I suggest editing the title, you and @ApostKhan seemed to be the exception that confirms the rule

1328 files and still going without a problem.

Backing up regularly and keeping an eye on things just in case.

currently have 2,384 files in my save.. in your case you downloaded a BAD Creation. what this means is you have to avoid these things in community creations, they crash the game and  corrupt the save file. just back up. communtiy creations is a trial and error thing,.. but i currently have like 70+ CAWs so the risk is definitely worth it

I dunno, seems weird since it's one of the most downloaded CAWs on CC and it caused all this damage at the same time the folder went over 1000,files, I don't think it's a coincidence.

Either way, the CAW was windingsheet's Bubba Ray Dudley, so keep it in mind

be mindful of the 'date uploaded' as there was an update for the game that was released. 

sometimes the CAWs with the highest downloads are very OLD ones. so try to go for caws newly uploaded.  with old CAWs its a gamble
