I really don't know what has happened I played the game for a little while last night and closed it and then I go to go onto it tonight and My game has just decided to totally mess up my save file and crap out on me i've seen the thread on here with different methods how to recover it and no dice. and i added so many mods, entrances etc and I even tried the back up of my save and still it gives me load failed and with my job and my little boy I really don't think I have the time for the game anymore which is a real shame because i really enjoyed this years game with all the mods coming out etc. I have enjoyed my stay here but I'm off now guys so long. I'm thankful for every mod created here and all i can say is keep this awesome community going. :) I apologise to anyone who was going to request any trons/themes etc too

It's too bad. Did you also try Method 2 in the guide to recover from a corrupted save thread?

If you have Xpacker 2016, try:

1) Start game and get to main menu.

2) Use WWE2K16 PC save option.

3) Open your backup save NOT your active save.

4) Save into memory.

5) Repeat for both pofo and info.

6) Trigger a save in game.

7) Pray to your deity of choice (if it works I can be your deity of choice :P).

I'm biting the bullet and have re-installed the game completely fresh and it will take me a little while but I will just have to reinstall the mods i had, IE Punk, Angle,Hogan, Del Rio Etc along with there entrances, trons, themes and movesets etc and just pray to god it doesn't corrupt on me again. I think I know why it did it now, I have everything to do with the game including the savefile on my SSD C drive, but when i had problems in the past i also installed steam to my F Drive my other hard drive and when i was playing it the other night it was fine because i didn't touch the steam folder in my F Drive, then me thinking oh well everything is on my Main C Drive I don't need the steam folder in the F Drive, I deleted the folder and emptied the bin. And then tonight that's when it gave me load failed, was it trying to load from the F Drive? who knows it doesn't matter now. I've just reinstalled the game now so i'll just have to start over again.

Did you make sure you dont have .uncompressed, .zlib or .bak files in your save folder?

Every time my save says its corrupt I delete those and then it works.

Oh right that will be it then mate there was uncompressed and zlib files in there but I've loaded the game so many times with those in there and it's always been fine, at moment it's all good atm just in the process of installing everything again :)

I am glad you decided to stay , It happened to me too so I had to re-do all the mods all over again so I feel your pain :( .

I already made an incremental save backup after each mod and a copy of the entire steam folder of the modded game ..just in case ;) .

Enjoy the game mate.

Not sure what's the point of you leaving because your save corrupted. Anyway always keep a backup and don't inject into the main save directly.

I know at the point I was just annoyed with gamesave corrupting again and I always back up my files and even tried the back up but after fellow members have given me their input Ive more than likely gone wrong somewhere but it's all good now ;)

Sorry to hear about your save, but as I've said multiple times, do not work on the directly. Always take a backup and work with the backup.

The save is very volatile this year, hence I wrote a tutorial on how to edit it. Since the following the method I've posted, I haven't had any corruption issues.

Yeah I honestly had like, three separate occasions where my save corrupted, definitely isn't fun. But if you take precaution, at least it shouldn't happen again!

First rule of modding any game, always work from backups. The amount of people who have fell at that first hurdle this year is astonishing. It's like leaving on a long trip with no fuel in your car. You're not gonna get very far at all..

Perhaps it might also be a good idea if you adjust the code of X-Packer (the same goes for any other tools that may write to the save directory) so that it never extracts or adds files to the save directory itself to be more fool-proof. Maybe even not allow to work on the save directly but always create these files elsewhere first and work from there.

X-packer does not make any edits to the actual save file at all, rather the extracted version of the file.

From my years of coding windows applications Doing an an automatic copy to another directory causes all sorts of Uac and antivirus issues.

In all the time that I've been modding games, I never work on anything directly in the game directory.

Taking frequent backups is also considered good practice.

But what good does working on the backup files do since the game automatically loads the savefile in userdata? If I make a save backup, do all my work there and point Steam at that folder as the new save folder, wouldn't that make it the regular save folder?

This is what i do, and this process has saved me multiple times:

Note: i have steam cloud turned off

1. exit wwe 2k16

2. log out of steam.

3. delete the 385730

4. paste your 385730 save back up

5. turn off your internet

6. log in to steam in offline mode.

7. see if the save back up loads

8. make the game save using change reaction of any character.

9. exit wwe 2k16

10. exit steam

11. turn on internet

12. log in to steam

13. play wwe 2k16

14. try process again :) (once i had to do the same process twice, i couldnt believe it made a difference)
