OnyxRain
Is there any way at all to get a totally 100% clean install of the game? Meaning where it won't remember at all anything that has been added? Like it was on day one when we bought it? I uninstalled it last night and then reinstalled and things were still like they were. What I want is a way to stop that if it's at all possible. I just want to remove all my mods and start this whole mess over. I can't seem to figure out why it's doing this but it sure might save me some headache. The more I mess with this game to be honest the more I feel like I just threw money away. And to all of you that have and continue to help that is in no way a reflection on you or anyone here at Smacktalks. You all are great you do the best you can. It's me that finds things difficult and I thought I had patience but I'm finding that I need more.
OnyxRain
So 61 people have read this and not one of you knows the answer? I find this hard to believe. Then again not really. And I say that very sarcastically given the way things are.
kim666
The only thing that is not clean after a clean install is the savegame. Simply delete this folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\YOUR_PROFILE_ID\385730\remote" and your game should be a clean game again.
OnyxRain
When I do that as soon as I start the game up again it still shows mods that were added. So it doesn't actually ever seem to install again cleanly. Sorry Kim but doing that doesn't "clean the game to factory state". It still shows that modded superstars had been added only now their names aren't all correct. What I'm trying to do is get the game to actually install totally like new. Where I'll have to accept the EULA and such so it thinks nothing has ever been done. I've done about 10 uninstalls and reinstalls removing every folder that has anything to do with WWE and none of that fixes this problem. I just want a clean version at this point without any mods. Since for me anyway there seem to be problems still with using any it just makes since. If I'm going to make any use of the PC version at all. Titavius
You've messed your game up, welcome to the world of modding. I cannot stress enough how important it is to create a backup of every file you replace. Games create registry files that are often left behind. Try removing these, and the next time you install it should create new ones. Edited March 26, 2016 by Titan83
OnyxRain
I know a sure way to get it working again. Reinstalling windows but then I'm afraid of 2 things. 1 my version of X-Packer will stop working and I sure don't want to pay for a new one and 2 my version of KG's trainer may stop working and I sure don't want to have to pay again for that either. So not sure if that's a good way to go but I'm getting close to doing it. Since I have no idea where to look for the registries that this game seems to leave behind to make sure they are deleted before a reinstall. As I stated in my previous post. I did a search for everything with WWE or Steam in their names and uninstalled them after doing an uninstall and it still came up unclean. So they hide something somewhere. Auday
uninstall the game and go to wherever your steamlibrary folder is located.SteamLibrary>steamapps>common and delete WWE 2k16 folder. The uninstaller is supposed to be ONLY responsible to uninstall game files that it have installed not the ones that you installed. So after you uninstall go and see if the wwe 2k16 folder still exists, if it des delete it. And delete the save too like Kim said and then install the game again. and DON'T format your windows for this. It's not worth it. Always try finding a solution before formatting. It's not a good thing to format your pc over such an issue.
OnyxRain
Auday I did just what you suggested and uninstalled the game again. There are no folders for WWE 16 in the apps library. I just know though when I reinstall it then its going to put those modded superstars back in. There was a 2k15 folder in there after uninstall so I did delete that but even that won't change the one Beylay mod I put in to it it's always there to just not always named correctly. I know you all are trying to be helpful but these things aren't actually working no matter how I go about it.
kim666
Ok once again.Start the game in window mode and wait until its loaded to the start screen. But don't press a key to load the main menu. Now open file explorer (the game must still run!) and delete the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\YOUR_PROFILE_ID\385730\remote" folder. Now go back to the game window and press a key to load the main menu. The game will told you that you have to create a new save.
OnyxRain
Thank you for a more lengthy but easier explanation Kim. I know you may not believe this but I appreciate it really I do. I'll give that a try with both games and see if that finally fixes this will report back after.
OnyxRain
Thank you so much Kim that solution seemed to have worked. This time I made sure to back up a copy of my user data remote folder for both games as well as the steamapps common folders for both in case this happens again. So much appreciation for the help and patience.
