Game Crash on start up thanks to new patch

That's not happening. You bought the game assuming they were supporting mods, but they never said they were. You bought the game on knowledge that the game came as is. If a mod didnt work would you go to 2k to help get it working?  No. Same with a refund. Not happening.

Mods not crashing my game.

 

EDIT:

In my steam\common folder I have this set up (The blank one being my modded and active WWE 2K16 game)

When the patch was installed, I had - Clean set as the active copy as I was doing something with the original game (No mods installed)

The patch was installed and I launched the game, noticed I was in the wrong version, closed, renamed the game to - clean and put my modded version back and it all works fine.

How did you manage to have three different copies of the game installed?

Copy and paste? It makes a folder named WWE2K16 - Copy, just renamed it.

i reinstalled every mod that replaces a thing in the game and it didn't work and after that i put the default string.pac and misc01_start_dlc10.pac and still didnt work 
and a tried removing my save file and disabling steam cload and still didnt work

You buy the game without mods, expect it to be patched that way.

You need to verify the game integrity.

I tried that also, but it didnt work so far. Do I manually have to remove all evt or character model files? Or is it the save file which was edited with cheat engine?

For 2k15, there is an OFFICIAL MODDING subforum.
If modding wasn't "supported" then there sure as hell wouldn't be a "mod" section on their official 2k forums.

Fallout was announced to support mods = has workshop

Skyrim supports mods = has workshop

Whenever I try to insert a new character in the game (chxxx.pac), the game crashes @start. If I remove the mod, the game starts again. Replacing does still work but only that...

Edit: Replacing also doesn't work. Game starts but crashes during character selection.

Make a complete copy of the game before you do anything with it. Saves downloading it again.

Hmmm, my net is fast, but that is not the point, because your savedata may still be there afterwards and it should also do it to verify the integrity of the game. steam found that string file and two others had been changed, so they were redownloaded, which took 3 minutes. game still does not work, so the problem must be the save data changed via cheat engine . am i right? but if i delete these, all my progress will be lost...

Edit: i deleted all character models and entrance animations, but still crashes. where can i find the savedata, to test the effect there?

They did not support modding ? Thats why they created a modding forum on the official 2k forums. Because modding "is not supported"

That really sucks, I wonder why they now have this "mod protection". Why not at release?

On that note:

I just got the game to launch, I deleted WWE 2k16.exe and chunk_cache from the main folder, then i verified the files and now it launches. 
I know some don't want to "verify" their files tho.
