Recommended Posts

READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING: The Universal Alternate Attire Unlock 2k16 is now part of the Data Editor for WWE 2k16 tool which allows you to switch wrestlers with alternate attires using a graphical user inteface. It is highly recommended to use the  Data Editor for WWE 2k16 tool and install the latest version of the Universal Alternate Attire Unlock included with it instead of using the outdated, stand-alone distribution of the Universal Alternate Attire Unlock 2k16.

Synopsis: This mod unlocks 10 Attire slots for the current maximum of 100 wrestlers. It is a helper mod that is meant to be used in conjunction with mods that add and change alternate attires for people that do not wish to undertake any hex editing themselves. Please read the readme for details, instructions and more!
Works only with the official Steam release version of WWE 2k16.

Universal Alternate Attire Unlock 2k16
Modification for WWE 2k16 v1.05 Patch 1.01 on the PC
Version 0.15.6.0 Beta
by Caveman and friends

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This modification is a helper modification that is meant to be used in conjunction with other modifications that unlock alternate attires. It doesn't do all that much by itself, but allows users to use various modifications that add or modify alternate attires that do not wish to do any hex editing themselves.

It accomplishes this by replacing default misc01_start_dlc10.pac file with a modified version which unlocks 10 attires for a number of playable wrestlers (see NOTES II below for details) from the original game as well as DLC.

Note that this modification does NOT include any alternate attires for any of the wrestlers it enables the alternate attires to be selectable for. These selections are for wrestlers that already have unlockable alternate attires in the game as well as wrestlers from various modifications that add and replace alternate attires.
Note that if you select an alternate attire that isn't available for a wrestler, the game will default to the first attire instead (which may also be a hidden attire in case of some wrestlers).

This version is tested to work with the version of WWE2k16 on Steam that is specified on top of this document, but may also work with later versions.

6. Extract the contents of the .zip file into the WWE2k16 directory (Default: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\WWE2k16") so that the .pac files included in this mod land in the pac\ subfolder.
7. Install any Mods that add alternate attires to one of the Wrestlers this mod unlocks alternate attires for.
8. Start the game and enjoy!

NOTES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0. This Modification is in open beta testing. Please leave your feedback and report any issues you may encounter with it in the following thread:

1. All wrestlers with alternate attires that originally haven't been unlockable use the same naming scheme for attires with this modification installed. Assuming you choose to install the included Future-Proof-String string.pac file, they are:

    HexLE  HexBE            StringName

    3521   21 35 00 00      ATTIRE 1
    3522   22 35 00 00      ATTIRE 2
    3523   23 35 00 00      ATTIRE 3
    3524   24 35 00 00      ATTIRE 4
    3525   25 35 00 00      ATTIRE 5
    3526   26 35 00 00      ATTIRE 6
    3527   27 35 00 00      ATTIRE 7
    3528   28 35 00 00      ATTIRE 8
    3529   29 35 00 00      ATTIRE 9
    352A   2A 35 00 00      ATTIRE 10

Note that the Wrestlers that already have unlocked/unlockable alternate attires in the unmodified game keep the original names of said attires, with only the additional mod-attires using the naming scheme above.

If the string.pac in this package is outdated and you wish to update it, you may find the latest version of the Future-Proof String at the following URL:
http://smacktalks.org/forums/topic/61127-future-proof-string

For those that don't want to use the string.pac included in this modification for whatever reason, the attire names will default to "WRESTLEMANIA" and "WRESTLEMANIA 2-10" to keep the numbering scheme intact.

If you wish to change attire names yourself, you can read Red Rooster's guide on how to change attire names: http://smacktalks.org/forums/topic/56083-unlocking-alt-attires-adding-custom-attire-names-tutorials

2. Sadly, the maximum number of Wrestlers with alternate attires the game can recognize is 100 (this doesn't seem to include CAWs as alternate attires, you can still add those on top). Since the game with all DLC includes way more playable wrestlers as well as a bunch of playable managers and various unplayable characters that appear in other parts of the game or are hidden and can be unlocked via memory editing, I had to make some tough choices and leave some wrestlers without alternate attires out. I've tried to make the decisions based on whether a character already has multiple attires in the game (in which case I eft them in not to mess up anything), how often a wrestler has recently changed their attire or if at all as well of some considerations based on duplicate characters, popularity, for which characters there are already alternate attire mods and others. The selection is admittedly very subjective and I apologize to have been forced to have made this compromise, but I figured it was better to release this limited mod instead of not releasing one at all, so people that aren't as savy with hex editing can enjoy most if not all the mods that add alternate attires to various wrestlers.

I have listed all the wrestlers that have alternate attires unlocked with this mod as well as those without below. I've also added the ID of each wrestler in Decimal, HexLE (little Endian) and HexBE (Big Endian, this is the column that you need to use in the hex editor) before their name which you can use as a guide to easily swap some out for yourself by an easy search, copy and paste operation inside a hex editor of your choosing. Please do not ask me to change the wrestlers in this modification, I won't.
You can do so yourself by following the Quick Replacement tutorial in section 2.A. below.

2.A. QUICK REPLACEMENT TUTORIAL
This quick tutorial will show you to replace the wrestlers that have alterante attires enabled.

OPTION 1 (Recommended): Use the Universal Alternate Attire Unlocker GUI included in the Wrestler Information and Moveset Creator 2k16. You can download it at the following link:
http://smacktalks.org/forums/topic/61535-wrestler-information-and-moveset-creator-2k16

OPTION 2: Manual change:
1. Download and install a hex editor of choice (HxD is recommended).
2. Backup the misc01_start_dlc10.pac file from this modification somewhere safe (not in the game directory!).
3. Open misc01_start_dlc10.pac with a hex editor.
4. In the Hex Editor, do a Text Search for COS.
5. Once COS has been found, do a forward Hex Value search for whatever ID (look up the HexBE column in the table 2.B. below) you do not need alternate attires for and thus wish to replace.
6. The first entry will be your hit (it should be followed by a 0A entry, which means 10 as in 10 attires unlocked - you can alter that lower if you want less than 10 attires and more than 1 for a wrestler, by the way).
7. Look up the HexBE ID of the wrestler you wish to unlock alternate attires for here in the readme table 2.C. and copy it (CTRL+C, for example).
8. Go back to the Hex Editor and REPLACE the ID you searched for earlier with the one you just copied from the readme file.
Be careful that you REPLACE the value and not add to it, as the values need to remain in the same place and the file size must not change, or it can lead to problems including crashes!
9. Save the altered misc01_start_dlc10.pac file and exit the hex editor.
10. Make sure the file size of the original, backed up misc01_start_dlc10.pac file and the edited one are the same size. If not, you likely messed up at step 8., so restore your backup and start again.
11. Check if you now have a misc01_start_dlc10.pac.bak file (or whatever your hex editor saves backups as) in your WWE 2k16/pac folder. If you do, move it to a different directory, so the game won't load it or parts of it by mistake.
12. Start the game and enjoy your alternate Attires for the wrestler you just added them with. If it didn't work, verify you've done steps 2-10 correctly, restore your backup and start again.

If you aren't that much of a reader, Jaymeetee/Curb Stomp City has also created a nice video tutorial for this:

If you wish to learn more advanced things about this topic, follow Red Rooster's excellent guide instead. It isn't as hard as it might appear: http://smacktalks.org/forums/topic/56083-unlocking-alt-attires-adding-custom-attire-names-tutorials

Awesome, Thank you Cave.

I got a question, let's say i install 2k15's Seth Rollins mod by PH_guy which includes 6 attires but they're all inside the original ch pac file (which is the same ID he uses in 2k16)  is it gonna work now? or do attires have to be in separated files this year?

It seems like you'll have to put them into separate .pac files with a single pach in them each, at least I had to during my early tests.

Thanks for this, very helpful. :)

Would you mind telling me which ID's in the string file are used for the Attire 1 - Attire 10 text?

Certainly.

HexLE HexBE StringName
32C9   C9 32  Attire 1
32CA   CA 32  Attire 2
32CB   CB 32  Attire 3
32CC   CC 32  Attire 4
32CD   CD 32  Attire 5
32CE   CE 32  Attire 6
32CF   CF 32  Attire 7
32D0   D0 32  Attire 8
32D1   D1 32  Attire 9
32D2   D2 32 Attire 10

The above replace the original strings for WRESTLEMANIA - WRESTLEMANIA 10 (just in case you're searching in the wrong endianness), just like last year.

Excuse me, after I replace the files, when I select a wrestler who doesn't have any alt attire in the first place, the game still doesn't ask me to choose alt attires :( It works differently from last year right :(

Oh sorry I figure it out somehow, but it still doesn' work for Kofi :/ Btw in my game the attires are called Wrestlemania 1 to Wrestlemania 10 :D

Good catch on Kofi.Thank you. A typo hit and thus it doesn't work for him. It'll be fixed in the next version, likely to be released later tonight when I get home. If you don't want to wait so long, you can change A7 00 00 00 to B0 00 00 00 in the COS section of the misc file which should do the trick.
If you see any other wrestlers that are listed as included in the file that don't work, please let me know here, and I'll fix them ASAP. It could be that more typos happened, considering I finished the mod late at night/early morning.

As for the Attire names, the string.pac file is only modified for the English version of the game right now, so if you are running it in a different language, it'll show up as Wrestlemania. I might change that for some of the other languages for the next release, if I find out the word for "Attire" for them, that is (German won't be a problem for me, but I'm not sure about the other supported languages). Or I could just leave it at "Attire" for the other languages, too, I guess. We'll see.

Been trying to figure out what's causing added attires to not have music during winning animation to no luck.
I hope someone eventually comes up with a solution. My knowledge about things is not that much. LOL!

A new version is now available for download in the top post:

Update Notes:

2016.03.16: VERSION 0.11 BETA
+ Fixed Kofi Kingston's ID which was messed up due to a typographical error. His alternate Attires should work now.
+ Added Attire 1-10 strings to string.pac language files 4002, 4003, 4004, 4005, 4009 in addition to the English 4000 language file.

Note: I'm not sure if the languages other than English actually work as I wasn't able to test them. Please do let me know whether your language works or not!

So when I download the only person that had 10 attires was Seth Rollins, is this meant to happen just to show that the mod worked or have messed up some how?

Hate to nitpick, but I noticed a couple guys who really should have the extra attire slots. Mainly being the WrestleMania main eventer.. Shane McMahon! :)

How exactly does this work? Will it say everyone has 10 alt attires even if they havent been installed? Or will it update itself when I add more pac files to a character?
