EnigmaticArtist Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Currently, I have an iPhone 6 128GB. It came out in September 2014, but it still counts as an iPhone 6 model (Even though an entirely new phone came out a year later). With rumors and things starting to go around about the iPhone 7, I'm beginning to make the decision on whether or not I should get it, right now. My main thing is, it might have some slightly different features and a little bit of a different look, but besides that it'll be really similar. With that in mind, I'm also considering waiting until an iPhone 8 is released. With that being said, how long do you usually keep your phone before you get a new one? Quote
HiPcavallo Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I always just keep my phone until it needs to be replaced. Personally I just consider my phone a convenience, as long as I can call and txt I don't really give a shit what it can/can't do. I currently have one of the more recent iPhone models (not sure which one), but only because the battery on my old Samsung Galaxy crapped out on me and my dad gave me his old phone so I wouldn't have to buy a new one (he always gets the latest model even though he doesn't use his phone for anything other than calling, and usually only for work. He's horribly superficial like that, just likes being able to brag about having the latest models to all his friends). Although if I didn't need to have a smartphone in order to get cell reception at home I'd still be content with my old Sony Ericsson that I got back in 2007, I actually really miss having buttons. Cerb Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I usually swap to the newest iPhone when it comes out every two years, but right now I'm still on the 5S and waiting for the 7 because I didn't like the design of 6. It still holds up, but I'm pretty sure I'm getting the 7 as my phone would be about 3 or so years old then. If the 7 looks absolute shit, I'm considering getting an android, but I just use my phone so much I don't know if I could handle the change, I mean some times when I accidentally upgrade and lose jailbreak, I have no idea what to do with stock iOS and it's a pain in the ass until jailbreak is released again. I can't handle stock iOS at all, it's complete trash. Quote
Aero Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Apple don't add enough new features to justifly upgrading each year... Nor do Samsung. Stick with the phone you have until it gets slow & shit Quote
fufu ÷ Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I use my phones until they break, then get a new one. I don't care too much about the specs or features, just so long as I can use my main apps, send messages and make calls. Couldn't give fewer fucks about games or anything like that, so I tend to get a long life out of my phones. On average i'd say 3 years is the usual life I get out of them. My iPhone 5C suits me down to the ground, although I do wish i'd gotten one with more memory. Quote
Cerb Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I have 16gb on the 5S. It's absolutely nothing for a phone. I don't store much stuff anyways, but I only have a few hundred pictures and just a couple of apps and it's pretty much full all the time. Quote
Auday Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 (edited) I rarely change my phone. Like 2 months ago I still had the iPhone 4 then I took the iPhone 5 from my dad because he got the new iPhone. Honestly phones are useless for me. As long as they text and call I could live with them. Even if it's only 8 gigs. I barely download anything or take pictures. I would much rather buy pc parts/games or soccer cleats lol. Edited March 14, 2016 by Auday Elyafe Quote
The Don Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 2 years, when I renew my contract. I don't go for anything fancy, just to do the basics and minimal intewebzing. I did just get the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge last week however, and I'm not a phone nerd or anything but it's pretty damn sexy. Quote
BrotchMrToast Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I don't even get phones like the S7 Edge. You know what happens when my Sony Z5 falls on the ground? Fucking nothing, because for some mystical reason it always lands on the edge and thus is still fully operable. But what do you do when your new fancy Samsung falls on the ground? Well you're screwed aren't ya you bastard? Besides, seeing as phones are around 500-800€ these days, I tend to hold my phone like somebody was about to steal it. But with the Samsung Edge phones, doing that results into you accidentally opening a ton of pop up windows on the side which are fucking annoying. Quote
