I feel a bit premature posting this as I won't have WWE2k'16 until it comes out for PC next month, but I was thinking last night about the way the logos are now downloaded with the CAS rather than being attached to them. Obviously this presents a major concern with regard to piracy, but does it also mean that the logos are downloaded and stored somewhere in the save game file, as the paint tool logos used to be?

The reason I ask is because I am fed up with the ridiculous token/server system 2K use and I'm hoping there will be a way to bypass it and inject logos straight into the save file, like we used to be able to.

In 2k15 I just overwrote the generic logos with my own when I wanted to add new logos.  Limits the amount you can do by a bit, but it was serviceable for what I was doing.

Funny you should say that, Pozzum, I was just looking at that very tutorial! I may have to do that, unless completely remodeling in-game characters into my own guys is a viable option. It's a lot of work but I've managed to do quite a bit in 2k15 already. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll continue to tinker.

it was and is ridiculous easy to bypass the token/server system, by simply changing the system time/date. just change the system date and you can dl again, this works even on 2k16 ps4 and xb one. What a stupid protection.

Sadly Kim, the issue I'm having is continually getting an 'Invalid Token' error every time I try to submit a code. There have been a lot of people who haven't been able to submit anything to the 2k15 server since the first week of January.

Thanks for that. I am curious though, in 2k16, if logos are also downloaded with a CAW, where are they stored? Is it in the save file? Has anyone been able to look or is it difficult to pull the files apart?

The 2k15 savegame is stored inside the steam\userdata folder. The problem is the 2k15 pc save files (caw/logos/savegame) are protected with a custom hash check, we never figured out how to rehash this files after we edited them. But with a wrong hash the game won't load the edited savegame/logo file.Thats why we edit the savegame in ram with x-packer/cheatengine.

Oh yeah, I know that is the case with 2k15, but what about 2k16? Has anyone had a chance to explore that game save or are we waiting on the PC version to be released?

P.S. I tried to follow that tutorial, but the links to the help pics are missing. I extracted the 0000.pac, renamed it as a DDS but it won't open in any art package I've tried. I deleted the bytes before dds in the Hex editor, but it still couldn't be recognised.

do you happen to know anything about hashes? I've never really looked into them personally it might be something interesting to try with 2k16

I only know that the ps3/xbox360 versions of the wwe games use the adler32 checksum https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adler-32

But idk what kind of checksum the pc version has. Our first idea was to patch the check out of the .exe file. But then we simply used cheatengine.

Do we know if the purpose of the hash check is to confirm that the game hasn't been tampered with?

I'm out of my depth here and just thinking out loud, but would the current gen consoles have used a different checksum? Depending on how much work and the level of complexity it would take to adapt the port to a new one, would they have gone to the trouble of changing it for the PC version?
