Crazzy Steve facepaint texture suggestions/tips for shadowing/authentic looking..

Hi, the title of this post basically says what I'm looking for. I suppose the texture could use a bit more detailing so it can look realistic, and have some shading(?) in it even though it's white face paint? Any tips anyone has will be appreciated.

Use grunge brushes on around 90% opacity to erase around the edges a little so it give a bit of a fade effect. Also drop some grey into the white base with a grunge brush so it doesn't look flat white. Also if you've got a good face shot of him, it'd help to actually apply the paint to that in photoshop, lower the opacity a little, and try to get some of the detail from his face to actually come though. Darken the areas where there would be shadows, or expression lines etc.

No luck with a face shot without make-up.. or a normal expression for it. Thanks for the tips! Much appreciated.
