DrJoeyMagnum Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 So the reviews seem good for the movie 1 Quote
Aero Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 So I watched it last night! I was a lot more disappointed than the people I went to see it with... Which is odd because I went in with the lowest expectations! Very much a case of things coincidently happening JUST in the nick of time, too similar to the original story for me and, whilst I get the want to bring back the original cast, it was maybe over played a lot?6/10 for me Quote

Aero Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Yeah, and it was fine back then.... Surely modern cinema has move on a bit from "here's some vital info..... Oh look, I've died and now yyou've stumbled on the exact reason why I told you that by pure coincidence" Quote
Sunny Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 It's not going to match up to the original Lucas films for obvious reasons, but Abrams does do them justice based on what I'm hearing even if the plot line is similar to New Hope. It's better than the prequels (besides the original score as the action is prioritized first) and a modern take on the original which is refreshing. Quote
Aero Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 its not a modern take though.... its the original take which is what bothers me about it! i wanted modern... only modern thing was being more PC by having a black dude and a female pushing the lead roles of the new folk Quote
DrJoeyMagnum Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 So it's been confirmed that Ewan McGregor was in Force Awaken as Obi-Wan voice Quote
Aero Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Well, I guess that makes more sense than Daniel Craig and simon peggs cameos Quote
DrJoeyMagnum Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 What was Peggs cameo though? I knew he was in the movie but as who? Daniel Craig was that Stormtrooper who got mind tricked Quote
Aero Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 He was the junkyard dealer that wanted bb-8 Quote
Sunny Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Abrams confirms Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a rip-off of A New Hope: http://www.flickeringmyth.com/2016/01/j-j-abrams-addresses-criticism-that-star-wars-the-force-awakens-is-a-rip-off-of-a-new-hope.html Quote
BrotchMrToast Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Right because him saying the movie is a rip off changes ANYTHING. God what a stupid post. Quote
Sunny Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Not really. It only confirms Aero's original post. The news picked up traction all week. Him admitting to it in fact, helps the movie because he defends the selection when he says, “What was important for me was introducing brand new characters using relationships that were embracing the history that we know to tell a story that is new — to go backwards to go forwards . . . I understand that this movie, I would argue much more than the ones that follow, needed to take a couple of steps backwards into very familiar terrain, and using a structure of nobodies becoming somebodies defeating the baddies — which is, again, I would argue, not a brand new concept, admittedly — but use that to do, I think, is a far more important thing." BrotchMrToast Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 (edited) And who seriously gives a fuck? Does it change anything about the movie itself? Besides, the movie had OBVIOUS parallels to a new hope. Of fucking course they're intentional. Did we really need his confirmation? Edited January 10, 2016 by BrotchMrToast Quote
Sunny Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Relax, Pete doesn't have an endless supply of Brazzers subscriptions. No one has a problem with the plot line following the original, but you don't just make a third deathstar to destroy. It is just lazy scriptwriting. 1 Quote
dads Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 The lack of young Anakin really killed the movie for me. Quote
